2025 NBA Draft grades: Live pick-by-pick analysis, updates, draft order for all 30 Round 1 selections
The draft of the NBA 2025 has finally arrived, and there are many intrigues to go during the Tour 1. After Duke’s Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks) and Dylan Harper of Rutgers (San Antonio Spurs) were selected with the first two choices, there was a dramatic break until Baylor’s Vj Edgembe was chosen n ° 3 global by the philadelphia of Baylor.
The pleasure started from there while analysts and fans whispered on the future of another Rutgers star, Ace Bailey. Although its pre -party process has been filled with controversy – largely its reluctance to participate in training sessions with individual teams – Utah Jazz has not been dissuaded. Bailey left the table at n ° 5 with the Blue Devils and Scarlet Knights combining for four of the first five choices of the draft.
There is a long way to go until the Tour 1 ends on Wednesday evening, and CBS Sports will be with you throughout the way. Keep it locked here for the Pick-By-Cick notes and analysis of our NBA Draft experts. The live and continuous coverage of the project is available live in the CBS Sports HQ player at the top of this page or on any device of your choice.
2025 nba draft grades, round 1
Adam Finkelstein
1. Dallas Mavericks: SF Cooper Flagg, Duke
Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Dallas had less than 2% chance of obtaining this choice and in Flagg, the MAVs not only obtain an elite bidirectional perspective but a double -directed elite player. He is ready to have an impact on the team and help them win now and be the bridge towards the future of the franchise. It can dominate defensively on and out of the ball. Super fire blocker. High flight rate. Passing wonderful. In his lonely university season, he made major progress as a shooter and creator. It is the future face of the franchise. A home run for Dallas. Grade: a
2. San Antonio Spurs: PG Dylan Harper, Rutgers
Spurs have a tandem upside down they can build for the next 15 years with Harper and Wemby. He is a big leader with a natural feeling for the game and large game instincts. He improves those around him. There are long -term questions about its shooting potential and durability. If he can address these areas, there are clear results for the stars for him in San Antonio. Grade: a
3. Philadelphia 76ers: SG VJ Edgecombe, Baylor
This is solid, not spectacular. Edgecombe is a spectacular athlete with incredible defensive potential. He can exert a ton of pressure on the rim, but he needs growth with his daycare skills, in particular by making 3S spots and being a main ball manager. I do not know how much he can help gain victory immediately, but it is a long -term quality room. Grade: B
4. Charlotte Hornets: SF Kon Knueppel, Duke
He can play now. He knows how to play with other good players and can hold his own offensive. He showed it in Duke. And when Cooper Flagg fell into the ACC tournament, he showed that he could be alpha. He is an incredibly qualified, very strong and very intelligent player. My concern is on the defensive. He is not an elite athlete. He did not keep the two NBA-Guards guards in Duke. How will it adapt next to Lamelo Ball and Brandon Miller in Charlotte? Grade: B
5. Utah jazz: sf ace bailey, rutgers
I give that an “A.” Enthusiastic its advantage is important. He did not work for them, but Utah was not going to be intimidated by the representation of Bailey. They took the best prospect of the board of directors. I think he is one of the best hopes of the project. It is a Jumbo wing, a high -level athlete and a hard shot manufacturer. If any click, it could have the highest advantage of the project. Ace Bailey will have the opportunity to have an immediate impact. I think that in the long term, it can work very well for jazz. Grade: a
6. Washington Wizards: Sg Tre Johnson, Texas
Wizards had the last option of a Top Six Clair in this project. They tried to get Bailey and got closer. If Johnson is the emergency plan, this is a good result. It has a size of NBA caliber and can immediately mark in the NBA. He has shown enormous growth in its effectiveness in Texas. He made difficult shots as a focal point of the opposite defense and has made progress with his death. Grade: a
7. New Orleans Pélicans: PG Jeremiah Fears, Oklahoma
I am skeptical. Fears are one of the most polarizing perspectives in the project. There is a bust potential. When you take a guard like fears, you say you think it can be a main creator. I think that its most likely result is an instant impact marker on a second unit. There are major questions about how a guy does not get him very well from 3 and dominated the ball next to Zion Williamson. Can he adapt to having less chance with the ball in his hands? It is a risky bet given the archetype. Grade: C +
8. Brooklyn Nets: PG Egor Demin, byu
I am surprised. Everyone calls him a leader, but he measures 6 feet 9 inches. I don’t buy that. I see it as a facilitating advantage. To write it, you believe in the rise and believe that it is a leader. You do not have a facilitation forward at this stage of the draft, especially when he has trouble defending and with outdoor shots. He mainly defended the attackers in Byu. Who will he keep in the NBA? Grade: C +
9. Toronto Raptors: PF Collin Murray-Boyles, South Carolina
I love it more than most. The blow is that he is a large sub -dimensional – he measures 6 feet 6 inches without shoes – and is not a 3 -point shooter. But it is very long with a 7 feet and very strong scale. He plays bigger than him and is an excellent game processor. He is very intelligent and versatile defensively. In Toronto, it is similar to Scottie Barnes but not as good. Adjustment becomes important when you try to maximize an asset. Grade: B
10. Phoenix Suns (via Rockets): C Khaman Maluach, Duke
I am a great supporter of Maluach. It has a long future in the league. It is 7-2 with a scale of 7-6 and is a threat of extreme lob. This is what he is doing best right now. It is exceptionally mobile for its size. It can run from start to finish and also move laterally. He shot the blocking potential but is not yet a large fire shot blocker. Phoenix has no one in his area before right now, so he can play immediate minutes and turn into a very good player for a long time. Good value. Grade: a-
11. Memphis Grizzlies (Via Trail Blazers): SG Cedric Coward, Washington State
COWARD is a late Bloomer who progressed from the level of division III and headed for Duke before staying in the draft. He has long arms, huge hands and a frame that should continue to evolve. He will provide Memphis with a much necessary floor spacing and has the tools to be a precious wing defender alongside Jaylen Wells. Hope is that these two can have an impact on victory immediately and evolve in tandem on which the grizzly greeks can count for the years to come. He is 23 years old, it is therefore a choice which must have an immediate return after the trade of Desmond Bane. If he can contribute to the low salary associated with this choice, it makes a lot of sense. Grade: B
