Scott Speedman initially thought Keri Russell was miscast for ‘Felicity’
Today, adolescent television enthusiasts know Ben Covington and Felicity Porter as one of the best couples on the screen of all time. But when Scott Speedman obtained work for the first time by playing the romantic interest of Keri Russell on WB Praise In 1998, he thought that the producers had thrown the bad actress in the titular role.
Speaking with Russell as part of VarietyThe “Actors on Actors” series, Speedman recalled for the first time putting his eyes on his Costar after being thrown by the creators JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves. “I remember meeting you on reading a few days later, and I clearly thought you were badly,” said Speedman. “I saw you and I thought, [the character] was supposed to be this Nerd. And I said to myself: ‘The chick of Malibu shores Does play Felicity? ‘… how will it work? “”

“There were so many girls waiting for hearing, I said to myself:” Can I leave? “I received a few reminders, then I passed a screen test and I smothered,” she said. “I am such a bad verifier … So I left, and JJ and Matt chased me away and I said,” What happened? You have to come back – you are too nervous. “I said to myself:” Welcome to me. [Laughs] Welcome to a life! They attracted me to this copy room – because it was the WB which I remember there were all these Wayans Bros. posters. – And JJ told me about jokes and calmed me. I still don’t think I have been incredible, but they let me have the room. “”
