Why Aaron Rodgers will struggle in 2025: QB’s ex-teammate says Steelers won’t be playoff contenders
It has been four years that Aron Rodgers won an eliminatory match for the last time, and one of his former teammates in Green Bay does not think that drought will end this year. The former secondary school of Packers Brady Poppinguga thinks that Rodgers could end up spending a long season in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers have been in the quarter of a purgatory since Ben Roethlisberger retired, and they hope that a 41-year-old rodgers will be able to resolve this. Poppinguga does not seem so optimistic about the chances that this happens.
Why Rodgers could have trouble
During a recent interview on “Reiter Than You” by Infinity Sports Network with Bill Reiter, Poppinguga explained why he thinks that the quadruple MVP will fight this year.
“I went to the Jets -Patriots match last year, and what was moving to Aaron that was different was simply, it is almost this reluctance – I would not say reluctance, because it is hard – it’s almost as if the body was tired and did not want to take it,” said Poppinguga. “There is a lot of thrift, there are a lot of things, I would say that his vision goes from reading the terrain to the rush, which is generally not normal for quarters of high level. High level quarters are a little able to feel the rush, then they are able to keep their eyes on the ground.”
Rodgers has always had a big vision on the ground, but as Poppingua explains, when you age as a quarter-arre, you start to worry about the big success that could come to you, which makes you leave your eyes of your receivers and to the rush to the pass that directs you.
The former Packers secondary thinks that it will be a huge problem for Rodgers in 2025.
“As soon as you take your view of the field – this is where your receivers are and how they are distributed and configured in space compared to the defenders – a receiver could literally open and suddenly could be covered in a tenth of a second,” said Poppinguga. “As you look at the precipitation, then come back to the place where you do not see them opening or even having a chance to come in an open space. And this is where I see it and it comes with age. It’s just a reality. It’s just human nature. Your body gets tired of being hit, once you start, you start what I call it.”
The New York Jets definitely fought last year when Rodgers succeeded. In the matches where Rodgers was dismissed three times or more, the jets went 1-7. On the other hand, the jets went 4-5 in any match where Rodgers was dismissed twice or less.

Father’s time ends up catching everyone
Poppinguga spent six seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay (2005-10) and he even won a Super Bowl with the quarter-Arrière, so he knows how difficult Rodgers is, but he also knows that the father’s time ends up catching up with everyone.
“It is not that it is weak, it is not that it is not hard, it is just that you tire yourself,” said Poppinguga. “Tom Brady crossed it. Brett Favre crossed her, but everyone crosses him in football.”
This is one thing to take this beating when you are younger, but Poppinguga thinks it will be difficult for Rodgers to take this at 41 years old. Rodgers has been dismissed a total of 571 times in his career, which is The NFL record for most of the bags taken by a quarter.
“The problem with this is that, for more than 17 games, he will not be able to play in a caliber who will lead them to be suitors in the playoffs,” said Poppinguga.
Rodgers should become the oldest NFL player this year, and if history has proven one thing, it is that being a successful quarter of the age of 41 is almost impossible. Brady is essentially the only starting quarter-tree which was a substantial success after having had 41 years, it was therefore the exception of the rule. The Steelers hope that Rodgers can also be an exception, but if it is not, it could be a long year for Pittsburgh, just as Poppingua predicts it.
