Sarah McLachlan says she ‘couldn’t watch’ her ‘painful’ ASPCA commercial
Yes, even Sarah McLachlan was terrorized by her infamous Aspca advertisement.
For those who live under a rock (or not yet living in the 90s), McLachlan played in an emotional advertisement for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which featured his 1997 “Angel” tube, put to melancholy montages of sad animals. “Music and visuals … It’s painful,” she admitted to The Tear-Jerker in a new interview with Roller. “I couldn’t watch it. It was right:” Oh, God is horrible. “But it worked like a fucking warm.”
As for the way it happened, McLachlan recalled: “One of my friends was on the [ASPCA] Board and said, “Hey, do you want to do this advertisement? We have never done this before with a celebrity or someone known. I love animals, and we thought it was a cool thing to do, so I did it. “”
She added: “And in a year, it collected $ 30 million or something like that.”
McLachlan told the point of sale that advertising also presented her a whole new generation of fans, but despite all this success, when she had the opportunity to make fun of all that, she jumped at the opportunity.
