Lewis Hamilton: Ferrari driver lauds ‘world-class’ Autrian GP qualifying execution after best 2025 grid positions | F1 News
Lewis Hamilton has praised the execution of Ferrari “world class” of the Austrian Grand Prix qualifying because they have reached the best network positions of their disappointing season so far.
Charles Leclerc unexpectedly divided the dominant McLarens to take second place on the grid and the equality of the best qualification result of the Ferrari Grand Prix of the season, while Hamilton reached the second row in fourth row for the first time at the Scuderia.
Ferrari has introduced a new floor on his SF-25 sub-performative car for this weekend and Hamilton, who qualified in a tenth of the second of Leclerc and the third Oscar Piastri, said Sky Sports F1: “It’s a fantastic result. The team worked very hard at the factory to bring us a new floor this weekend.
“Yesterday, we were much further, so that we are much closer and the second row is really fantastic. And for Charles in the front row too.
“My last lap was not perfect. I think that if I had finished it, I would have been second, so there are a lot of positive points to withdraw from this session.
“In addition, I think it was the best day on the operational level, in particular thanks to qualifications. Just the timetables, the information we obtain in terms of traffic and positioning on the right track, I think it was really the best in the world, so that’s what we worked.”
Ferrari – and the director of the Frédéric Vasseur team in particular – have been pressure in the Italian media in recent weeks, approaching the half of a season in which the ambitions of the title of pre -season of the Scuderia fell flat.
Given this external pressure on the largest and most famous team of F1, Hamilton said: “In the end, we continue to come together and protect ourselves and block all the noise, and keep your head down.
“It’s an incredible team. I work with Fred, we work to put all the pieces of the puzzle in the right place, but step by step. It cannot be done in one go.
“We have to continue working on it, but I’m really happy with the progress we make.”
“I’m just going to stay silent” – can Hamilton finally finish the podium wait?
Although he won the Sprint race during his second appearance for Ferrari at the Chinese GP in March, then took third in the second race on Saturday of the season in Miami in May, the latest Hamilton in F1 podium came last November when still a Mercedes pilot at Las Vegas GP.
The seven times world champion is on a 12 -races without finishing races among the first three, only one less than the worst sequence of his illustrious 18 -year -old F1 career.
“Each race I said that I can’t wait to get this first podium, so I’m not going to say that today!” said Hamilton.
“I’m just going to stay silent and try to do a better job tomorrow.”
