‘The Cat in the Hat’ trailer reveals backstory for the Dr. Seuss character

Fortunately, the cat in the hat comes back to the big screen to remind us of all how to have fun. The trailer of The cat in the hat, Who will be released in theaters on February 27, 2026, abandoned Tuesday morning, presenting our first overview of the new animated world of Dr. Seuss.
With Bill Hader expressing the cat, the new film widens the story of the beloved character of Dr. Seuss, taking us into his world and laughing at the idea that children show how to have fun and develop their confidence is in fact his vocation.
“We discover that entertaining children and sad children on a rainy day is his work,” said co-series and co-director Alessandro Carloni during a press conference. “There is a whole society.”
As we see in the trailer, even if the cat is pulverized by its new charges, it is relentless in its attempts to do its job. With him, it is also things, and here it is not just one and two, but also a lot, a lot – until the thing 13!
“We used the book more as a jump point for us,” said Carloni. “The book has become a question for us, that is to say:” Is this cat really right there to have a good time for itself and do a waste, or is there any more? “We looked at the book and realized that at the end of the book, the kid seems a little more confident with himself.
This film will mark the first time that the cat in the hat has obtained its own animated feature film, and it was designed as a major business card for a new era of Warner Bros.
“It is a completely original vision of a character with whom many people have a link,” said Bill Damaschke, president of Warner Bros. Pictures animation, “but as managed and brought to life by our filmmakers and by the very singular actor who plays the cat that you cannot imagine.”
Hader, who previously played the cat in the hat in a Saturday Night Live Sketch, said that he had actively pursued the filmmakers to be considered for the cat’s voice. “Like everyone, I remember reading this book when I was a child, then reading it to my children,” said Hader. “And then, you know, I worked with [Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja] Before on different projects. The combination of these two and the chance to play such an emblematic character was [too exciting]So I continued it.

“I am a great reader and these are the first books that I remember having read by myself,” added Hader. “This is one of my habits where I read and read a book, and I started with these books, and I remember having collected them and having had these books in my room.”
Like an overview of the trailer, the film also uses three distinct animation styles – a more fanciful approach for the cat in the hat world, a more anchored approach to the real world and a third world made up of children’s memories.

“The unique thing about this film is that you can see several films in one, in a way,” noted Carloni. “Because we cross really different universes, and we try to put this on the screen as an adventure while we are going through different fields and environments.”
The film also presents the vocal talents of Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Paula Pell and Matt Berry.
The cat in the hat was previously adapted as a live film in 2003 with another Snl Alum, Mike Myers, like the playful feline.
