British GP: F1 boss Stefano Domenicali says he expects Silverstone race to be on sport’s calendar ‘forever’ | F1 News
Formula 1 boss, Stefano Domenicini, said that he expects the British Grand Prix to be on the calendar “forever” before a meeting with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on Wednesday.
Domenicali, and at least a quarter of the 20 pilots of the grid – including the British recruit Ollie Bearman and the former man of Ferrari Carlos Sainz – will be organized by Starmer in a reception of rue Downing before the race of this weekend in Silverstone, with each session live live live at the time Sky Sports F1.
The American owners of F1 Liberty Media last year concluded a new agreement of 10 seasons with Silverstone to safeguard one of the country’s sporting summer jewelry until 2034 in an agreement that was worth 300 million pounds sterling.
And speaking before the 12th round of the campaign – where the British pilot Lando Norris offers auction to guarantee consecutive victories – Domenicinicali said: “I believe that Silverstone has the right characteristics to stay forever in the calendar because there is no other place where you can develop such a huge event in the United Kingdom.”
During his meeting with Starmer, Domenicini should put pressure on the house to redevelop the road infrastructure surrounding Silverstone and the importance of the motor racing industry towards the United Kingdom as a whole, with an annual value estimated at 12 billion pounds sterling to the economy.
It is believed that six thousand people are directly employed in the United Kingdom in F1, while seven of the 10 GRID teams are based here.
Domenicimi will also seek to solve visa problems for some of the workers abroad with a low content of sport after the British release of the European Union.
The 60 -year -old Italian continued: “I will emphasize the Prime Minister:” What are the figures related to Formula 1? “And” what is the technology and centers of excellence in the United Kingdom?
“There are also things that we have to solve this with Brexit, there are visa and complications of movement. We cannot be limited by people who are fortunate to stay here for the weekend because they come from another country.
“I will also add the fact that, as Silverstone will represent the biggest sporting event in the United Kingdom, it is necessary to ensure that their plans must be followed in the right way.”
Domenicinicali, who has run sport since 2019 and recently concluded a new five -year agreement to stay in his position, also admitted that an emergency plan was in place for the last two cycles of the season – which should be held in Qatar on November 30 and Abu Dhabi a week later – in the midst of political tensions in the Middle East.
He added: “We monitor the area and in daily contact with the promoters of the race there. So far, we have not received the signal (that the breeds are in danger).
“We really hope and I don’t even want to think about it, mainly for the situation as a whole and not for the race itself.
“We have a plan, but hope that it would not even be thought out. Things change so fast. We are talking about races in December, and now we are in July. We just need to be always ready.”
