‘The Old Guard 2’ director talks Black Mamba vs. Atomic Blonde showdown

The old guard 2 Director Victoria Mahoney stops at nothing to get what she wants.

In the case of Netflix Action suite, it meant involving Uma Thurman to play the villain of the film (and the very first immortal), Discord. And to do it, she led her own secret mission that would surely impress even the characters in the film.

“She was my first and only choice,” said Mahoney Weekly entertainment of the Kill Bill star. “It’s no secret. His manager Jason Weinberg knows, and I made secret texts at night with him, so there is digital proof somewhere in the universe.”

Mahoney admits that she was not exactly subtle in her attempts. “I really mean, I say to myself:” No matter what’s going on, don’t let it go. “I was trying to say to myself:” Don’t let it take another job and hold it. With Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) still in exile after her betrayal, and Quynh (Veronica Ngô) to take revenge after having escaped her underwater grave, things become very complicated when the mysterious and apparently unbeatable discord arises to throw a deadly key in everyone’s plans.

See Discord and Andy finally fight (with Thurman brandishing a sword like his character in Kill Bill) was like a dream come true for Mahoney. “You have all this hope and you are like, I hope, I hope, I hope, and then you see it – and, Oh my God,” she said. “And these two, it is like their merit – who they are, their discipline as an actor and as the stars of action – their discipline brought them in shape. So, all energy, time and care that has been put in this scene, I believe, show, and I hope it shows, and I hope that the public feels it.”

But this epic roof fighting scene looked almost very different. “This fight, at the start, it was just an appetizer, it was much more reduced,” said the director. “And then of course we were all like, it’s crazy, and [if we do this] We will really never work again. We had to hide our heads in public. We were all like, We want moreAnd everyone had the wisdom of the reason why we should use these two actors in an optimal form in the moment. “”
