KPMG Women’s Irish Open: English trio Hannah Screen, Mimi Rhodes and Lottie Woad one shot off lead | Golf News

Hannah Screen, Mimi Rhodes and Amateur Lottie Woad took a good start at the Open Irish of 2025 KPMG, ending the first day in a share of third place at five sub-parts.

The English trio impressed a day of time changing in cardboard house, sailing from the sun, wind and rain to position itself just a whim.

The screen delivered a flawless round, carding birdies on the holes one, four, six, 12 and 13, with Rhodes also without Bogey with five birdies.

Woad, 21, continued to increase in the amateur ranks, equaled his total of five sous to join six for the third.

They are all sitting just behind Chiara Tamburlini in Switzerland and Blanca Fernandez from Spain, who both fired impressive six under 67 under 67 to exceed the ranking after the first round.

Tamburlini, triple winner of the European women’s tour, started the 10th and jumped through the first nine with five birdies. She added two others on the first and ninth, with her only imperfection to come to the third.

“I am very happy with the way I played today,” said Tamburlini, who finished fourth in this event last year. “It was really motivating to have birdies all around.”

Fernandez, a 24 -year -old recruit, also impressed by seven birdies and a single Bogey. “Honestly, I didn’t feel this to come,” she admitted. “But I stayed relaxed and glued to the plan.”

Lisa Pettersson and Madelene Sagström, and Alexandra Swayne, of the US Virgin Islands. Sagström, playing alongside Tamburlini, had a roller coaster tour which included five birdies, an eagle, a triple Bogey and two other birdies.

The stars of the Solheim Cup are also on the field Leona Maguire, Charley Hull and Georgia Hall, adding additional prestige to the tournament.

A return to four sous is 11 players, including Irish amateur Emma Fleming. The day also presented two holes in one – by Brianna Navarrosa of the United States in the second and Sofie Bringner of Sweden on the 16th.

Friday, the second round of the T-shirts at 8 a.m., the 60 best professionals and the links advancing after the cup.
