Damian Lillard free agency: All Star open to signing with team this summer under right conditions, per report
After being canceled by the Milwaukee Bucks, Damian Lillard is a free agent without restriction for the first time in his career. It is certainly not the circumstances in which he imagines himself, after the Bucks have given up and extended the last two years of his agreement, but now Lillard has the opportunity to join any team he wishes.
The next 35-year-old child is currently being rehabilitated from a torn LCA he has suffered in the playoffs, so that he can take his time to join a team, perhaps waiting until next summer. However, Chris Haynes reports that the nine times, All Star can consider joining a team this summer “in the right conditions”.
Lillard has already drawn interest of several teamsIncluding the Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, although it is not clear to what extent these teams are motivated to conclude an agreement. These three teams also do not need a starting point guard at the moment, and even if Lillard will be absent for the most part otherwise the whole next season, when he returns, it is very unlikely that he wants to leave the bench. This does not mean that he would not start any of these teams, the Lakers, for example, would have a really powerful rear area with Luka Donnteic and Lillard. The same goes for Celtics and Warriors, although its adjustment in the two places is not as transparent.

When Lillard was originally negotiated in Milwaukee, his favorite landing point was the Miami Heat, but with Jimmy Butler who is no longer in the team, and the heat more distant from the statement of the title than when Lillard was originally on the negotiation block, this cut seems unlikely.
There is also the option that Lillard decides to sit next season without a team, entirely in rehabilitation of his injury, then joined a pretender in the title next summer. Anyway, Lillard would have his choice of litter in any team he wants to join.
Whatever the team adds Lillard, whether this summer or the next one, it will be incredibly abrupt now that it will earn around $ 22.5 million in each of the next five seasons of the Bucks. Milwaukee abandoned and stretched the Lillard contract in order to make room for the signing of Myles Turner, which allows Lillard to sign elsewhere. We do not know what Lillard would undertake a new agreement, but he will surely take a massive salary reduction for the chance to play in a team that has a strong chance of winning a championship.
