Ricky Hatton coming out of boxing retirement aged 47 for December fight against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai | Boxing News
Former world champion Ricky Hatton says he comes out of his retirement for a December fight in Dubai 13 years after his last professional boxing match.
The legendary fighter of Manchester, who is 47 years old in October, is expected to fight Eisa Al Dah in Dubai on December 2.
Hatton fought for the last time in November 2012 when a direct elimination defeat against Vyacheslav Senchenko dropped the Briton record at 45-3, but he returned to the ring for an exhibition fight with Marco Antonio Barrera in 2022.
The former world of Welter and Light Weight Champion joined a live book on Sunday confirming the fight, during which he revealed that a eyes injury prevented him from attending the event in person.
Hatton said: “I would have liked to be there but I had a little injury in the eye. The main thing is that the fight will take place and I can’t wait, I can’t wait to be there.
“It’s just one of the bizarre things, I caught one of my sunglasses in my eyes and I am very lucky that it is not permanent damage. It has just scratched the surface, so the crossed fingers, we are ready to leave.”
In his first row, Hatton won famous victories on Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo, before undergoing brutal defeats against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
Al Dah, who has only two months less than Hatton and will be 47 years old in December, has only fought only once professionally since 2012, which was a direct elimination defeat in 2021 against Pedro Alejandro Delgado in Mexico. The water fighter has a professional record of 8-3.
The announcement of Hatton’s return comes after Pacquiao announced his own return, the 46 -year -old Filipinos fighting for a Welter world title against Champion Mario Barrios on July 19 in Las Vegas.
