Chris Eubank Jr fined for misuse of social media after sauna controversy before Conor Benn fight | Boxing News
Chris Eubank Jr was sentenced to a fine of £ 10,000 for social media abuse by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Eubank had to pay the fine before the board of directors authorized his next fight to him, the revenge match with Conor Benn announced on September 20.
The Council of the South Region of the Board of Directors held an audience for Eubank JR last week to examine its weight for its April fight with Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Eubank Jr seemed to have violated the rules of the council when he published images on social networks that suggested that he used a sauna to gain weight.
Before boxing, Benn Eubank had to make 160 pounds at the official weighing, while being contracted to be more than 10 pounds more than this limit on the morning of the fight.
Although Eubank met the rehydration clause of the day of the combat, he missed weight the day before when he evolved 160.05 pounds.
But it is the alleged use of a sauna to gain weight for a fight which is contrary to the rules of the board of directors.
However, according to the evidence provided by Eubank and his team, the investigation of the board of directors judged that he was not guilty of using a sauna on the day of the weighing, but considered him guilty of improper use of social media.
The Council of the Board of the Board of Directors said: “Mr. EUBANK JNR. It has been found that it is in violation of Regulation 25 for improper use of social media.
“The Southern Area Council inflicted a fine on Mr. Eubank Jnr. The sum of £ 10,000.
“Mr. EUBANK JNR. Was confirmed as late for the official weighing ceremony for the competition in question and received a severe reprimand placed in his Southern Area Council file.”
Although he won Benn’s fight, Eubank was hospitalized later and revealed that he mainly needed to be treated to recover from dehydration, so that the weight limit for his next fight will remain a question of close control.
This is not the first fine taken from EUBANK by the Board of Directors. He received a penalty of £ 100,000 for slashing Benn with an egg in the accumulation of their first fight.
