Katie Taylor takes aim at ‘whining’ Amanda Serrano ahead of trilogy fight | Boxing News
Katie Taylor says she has tired of “groans and complaining” by Amanda Serrano after their two tight confrontations.
The rivals met face to face at a press conference in New York on Wednesday before their third highly anticipated fight on Friday.
Taylor said: “The fact is that I am 2-0 against her. Opinions are opinions, but the facts are facts. I’m just sick of the complaints and groans of your team.”
Taylor defeated Serrano for the last time by unanimous decision in Texas in November, the three judges marking the 95-94 fight in favor of the Irish fighter.
But the controversy broke out after the fight when the Puerto Rican star used his interview on Netflix to accuse Taylor of an intentional head of head.
“The only thing that matters is that I am 2-0 against her,” said Taylor. “I plan to stay undefeated against her.”
Serrano and Taylor will meet for the third time at Madison Square Garden.
When asked what she had planned to improve the last revenge match, Serrano said: “I’m going to use my head, but not the way it was used.
“We are going to be smarter, working more intelligently. I have worked much smarter for this fight and I think we can go out victorious. We will come out victorious.”
During their last fight, Serrano received a bad cut over his eye in the fourth round, which was attributed to an accidental whim.
Taylor was deducted a point in the eighth round after being warned several times against the head with his head.
Serrano herself asked Taylor why she would opt for a third fight and disturb her victories sequence.
“I resume the fight because I like the challenge of this,” said Taylor. “I want to take the best fights.
“I don’t really matter that I am 2-0, I just want to take up the biggest challenges, the greatest fights in women’s boxing and after the last fight, it was always the biggest fight in female boxing.
“So that’s why I take it. Why not take up the challenge? I think I can beat [Amanda] Again. This is why I resumed the fight. “”
The November meeting of the pair was a brutal back and forth affair through 10 laps, which reflected its classic initial meeting at the Madison Square Garden in 2022.
Taylor and Serrano kissed after the bell, but the strongly pro-services crowd expressed his dissatisfaction as the result was announced.
