England Joe Root broke a world record with its 211st test capture to reject Karun Nair from India to Lord’s on Friday.
Root took the spectacular diving in one hand to the sliding of Ben Stokes’s delivery during the 21st in the first rounds of India on the second day of the third test, sending Karun Nair (40) on foot and the reduction of India to 74-2.
With the breathtaking effort, Root moved to the first autonomous place on 211 catches, exceeding India Great Rahul Dravid, which made 210 catches in 164 tests between 1996 and 2012.
Root defined the new brand in its 156th match and in five less rounds. The faithful England had to be faithful to Dravid’s 301.

The top Five is now composed of Root on the 211, Dravid on 210, Sri Lanka Mahela Jayawardene at 205, Steve Smith in Australia on 200 and Jacques Kallis of South Africa also on 200.
“If you are going to get a world record on the captures, do it like this,” said Sky Sports Cricket’s Nasser Hussain.
“What a way to get there. Brilliant.”

Already in this test, Root carried out 104 for its 37th century of testing at the national extent, placing it fifth on the list of all time.
Throughout his career, Root has twice took four catches in a round, against Pakistan in Old Trafford in 2016 and Ireland in Lord’s in 2019.
Tim Southee in New Zealand is most often captured by Root, seven times, including a Root bowling alley in 2018.

Meanwhile, Stuart Broad took advantage of Root’s safe hands with 37 caught from his bowling alley. He withdrew 29 from James Anderson and a 21 of Chris Woake, while Nair’s dismissal was his 20th off Ben Stokes.
Root has five licensees captured and experienced in name.
Root also has more captures against India than any other test opposition with 39, Australia following closely on 38.
