Kelly Clarkson begins Vegas residency, apologizes for canceling before

Kelly Clarkson proves again that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

After taking a little more time to rest, the triple winner of the Grammys launched his residence in Las Vegas with a blow on Friday evening. Her performance at the Colosseum of Caesars Palace occurs a week after Clarkson suddenly postponed her opening week show 90 minutes before she goes on stage.

During the representation of July 11, Clarkson addressed the incident, apologizing to fans for the change of last minute plans.

“It took me a minute. I’m really sorry,” she told the crowd in a shared video on Tiktok. “I know that some of you all had tickets for the shows last weekend. I am really sorry. We cannot help our bodies sometimes. You know, we fall sick, and that happens.”

She continued: “But thank you for having appeared to you. We are so excited. It is my favorite residence – my favorite show that I have never gathered, because I like to be in the studio.”

Later at night, Clarkson took a photo of Tequila with a member of the public and joked: “I celebrate because I had to cancel last weekend. I cried. I was so sick. It was null. I’m so happy to be here!”

A week ago, Clarkson took the fans off guard when she announced that she would postpone her first shows.

“Preparation and rehearsals have wreaked havoc on my voice,” said Clarkson in a statement. “I want the shows to be perfect for all of you, and I have to protect myself from serious damage, so I take this weekend and next week to rest so that we can deliver what you deserve.”

Adding that she was “devastated” but wanted the residence “to start strong”, said Clarkson that the following weekend would mark the first of it instead.

Friday, Clarkson completed tubes such as “since you left” and “my life would suck without you”, in addition to deeper cuts like “sober” and “tight rope”.

Clarkson also played “Piece by Piece”, offering a long introduction to the single of 2015 which gave fans an overview of his decision to modify the words after his divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

“I wrote it [when] I felt a guy in a way and hoping more than [anything]. And then, I changed it a few summers, “said Clarkson on the crowd.” I said to myself: “I have to sing it” because people continued to ask. “But it didn’t feel well.”

She continued: “I never had a song that [was] rewritten three times. But sometimes you can’t sing it as you wrote because it’s not honest. And you are sad. And then you start to wonder if this is how the song should have been written in the first place. “”

Clarkson then sang the modified version of “piece by piece”, which she had been playing for two years. While the original track details Clarkson’s difficult relationship with his absent father and how his relationship with Blackstock helped her heal, the modified version sees the singer appropriating on her healing journey, crediting rather self-love.

Sixteen performance by Kelly Clarkson: Studio sessions are scheduled until November 15. She has not yet announced new dates for the programs postponed from July 4 and July 5.
