From the humble beginnings in the Carolines and across the Southeast, Nascar has not only become the most popular car race in the United States, but also that which can attract the intrigue and attention of the rest of the world. And the places where Nascar seeks to go, but also the place where he comes from, is reflected in the place where his first division will be underway in 2025.

The 2025 Nascar Cup Series season offers not only familiar stops from the superspeedways of Daytona and Talladega to the most emblematic pieces of sport like Darlington, Charlotte and Martinsville, but also two new additions to the calendar that is both close and distant. The year started with Chase Elliott winning the shock of the legendary Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC, while Shane Van Gisbergen would win in Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, marking the victory during the first race of the International Cup series in the modern era of Nascar and the first since 1958.

In just five weeks, Shane Van Gisbergen went from the outside of the Top 30 in the Cup classification until the top of the NASCAR qualifying series ranking. The former champion V8 Supercars has fully benefited from a summer swing of route on the road, winning three consecutive victories on the route on the road in Mexico City, Chicago and Sonoma to equalize Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell as the most winning pilot of the Cup this season.

Among the other major changes in the calendar remaining this year, in particular:

  • The Nashville Superspeedway racing date moves from late June to early June, immediately after Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte. Michigan and Pocono also return to the June dates.
  • Sonoma and Dover’s racing dates were both moved in July. The Iowa Speedway racing date was moved from June to August.
  • The date of Mexico City came at the expense of Richmond Raceway, which will now have only one race weekend in August.
  • Atlanta, Watkins Glen and Homestead-Miami were far from the playoffs, with Gateway and the New Hampshire rather moved into the playoffs. The Southern 500 in Darlington has also become the opening race for the playoffs, and the Coke Zero Sugar 400 is once again the final of the regular season after a planning oddity because the Olympic break has advanced the season a week.
  • The Talladega Superspeedway playoff race has been moved to 8, this race is now planned to determine a place in championship 4.
  • In the Xfinity and Truck series, the legendary Rockingham Speedway has returned to the calendar of the two series since 2004 and 2013 respectively. The series of trucks also wins an entirely new race track with Nascar’s very first trip to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.
