2025 MLB Draft: Five players still available for Day 2, including Jack Bauer and an SEC…quarterback?
The amateur draft of the Major Baseball League began on Sunday evening, the Washington Nationals selecting the Oklahoma Prep Eli Willis stop back with the third choice N ° 1 in the history of the franchise. (The Nationals had previously chosen AS Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper at the top of the 2009 and 2010 projects.) The league as a whole then made 104 choices more Sunday evening before stopping for the evening.
Unlike past editions, this year’s draft will only last two days instead of three. However, we, at CBS Sports, continue to tradition by highlighting a handful of the best remaining players on the table before the second day. Got it? GOOD. Let’s continue.

1. Mason Neville, de, Oregon
Neville had a massive season for the Ducks, reaching .290 / .429 / .724 with 26 circuits and 16 doubles in 57 games. Add to that it is an athlete higher than the average that has spent the season in the central field, and you may wonder why it is always on the board. Apparently, because the teams are concerned with its Swing-And-Miss trends, which fueled a withdrawal rate of 33.5% in 2024 and a brand of 23.6% this year. This probably did not help this passage from Neville to the CoD League cape, while Brief, saw it take 19 times in 32 at-bats. He should still get out of the board of directors early on day 2.
2. Jack Bauer, LHP, Lincoln Way East HS (IL)
Bauer is one of the favorite remaining perspectives of the Internet because of its name and the fact that it was timed up to 102 mi / h in an appearance earlier this year. He needs to considerably improve his consistency, both with his location and his quality of things. This has been established, a team could be tempted to take it early day 2 because the left -wing with this raw speed type are difficult to find.
3. Cameron Appenseller, LHP, Glenwood HS (IL)
Appenzeller is a big left -hander who seemed to take a step forward Massif last season. Unfortunately, the gains (especially with its speed) did not stay this spring, which allowed it to lose its note in the first round in the process. Appenzeller has a projected framework and has shown enough flashes so that a team can still take it early on day 2 and try to court it with its commitment from Tennessee.
4. Nick Dumesnil, de, California Baptist University
Here is what we wrote on Dumesnil when we qualified him as to face the project: “I do not think that I brushed here by writing that the smaller school players still work with more strict margins than their power counterparts. The decline from year to year, while being its reduction rate of 12.9% to 19.8%.
5. Sam Horn, Rhp, Missouri
Horn, who also plays the quarter of a quarter for the Missouri football team, launched the 15 rounds for tigers during their university baseball career. Blame this on the surgery of Tommy John which he suffered in 2023 which made him miss the whole campaign in 2024. Despite this, it is an intriguing increase which has important lines – size, force of arms and athletics above average.
