Campbell Hatton: Son of boxer Ricky Hatton retires at 24 years old to become solar panel installer | Boxing News
Campbell Hatton retired by boxing at 24 to become a solar panel installer, according to his father, the two -weight world champion Ricky Hatton.
Hatton fought for the last time in October in a second consecutive defeat against James Flint and ended his professional career with a 14-2 file.
He won his first 12 fights and was part of the same direction as Anthony Joshua before his career got rid of in the past two years.
“No, Campbell will not fight again,” said Ricky Hatton, who will return to boxing in December, said boxing now when he asked him about the future of his son.
“As you know, he didn’t have much amateur experience. He tried the amateurs, then he became pro and tried.
“He fought for the title of the region and fought. I thought he had lost it to be fair. But then he fought the same boy right away.
“I thought he had won the second; they were both very close fights. But he lost a little of his mojo, then a few things went wrong.”
Ricky, who is 47 years old in October, became coach of his son in March earlier this year before discussing his retirement.
He said that the death of one of Campbell’s best friends has affected him in recent months.
“He went through a little for a while, and he was in the gymnasium, and his heart was not in it,” he said.
“I said,” Listen to my son, you should be very proud of yourself, you tried it, but if you lost your mojo, you have to go out. “You can’t play boxing, you can play any other sport. So I advised him, and now he does solar panels.”
