Fran Hennessy: Rising boxing star thankful for ‘love and support’ after social media video goes viral | Boxing News
British boxing star Rising Fran Hennessy admits that she was “overwhelmed” by the reaction to video on her difficulties with the body image as a young person who has become viral on social networks.
The 20 -year -old man, who is undefeated in his first six professional fights and targets a future world title fight, published the video on his social channels which begins with his learning to jump when he was a child and ends with clips of his intense boxing training sessions in adulthood.
The video was viewed 1.2 m times on the Hennessy Instagram account alone.
“I was overwhelmed by the love and support he obtained. I never imagined that it would be so big and I am just blessed to have this love and this support,” said Hennessy Sky Sports.
“My father said to me for about two months to put him in place and I was a little nervous because the little girl in a little sure in me thought:” I do not want people to see me overweight, trampling when I jump “but I am so grateful that I did it because so many young children, the parents said how it helped their young children.
“I even had a young child who came to me the other day with a rope showing me how many jumps she had learned to make.
“I was just surprised by love and support and I am so grateful to be in the position in which I am.”
Hennessy is now heading to Parliament’s houses on Tuesday to talk about the positive impact that boxing can have on the lives of young people.
“Boxing helped me massively. I wouldn’t be where I am now without boxing, I don’t know what I would do,” she said.
“I was strongly dyslexic at school and I found very difficult to concentrate in a classroom and now I go to Parliament to talk about what we can do for young children at school.
“I had an incredible education; I had the support of my parents – some young children do not have that and it is a question of putting this in place by helping them to believe that they can realize everything they want to achieve, whether in sport or anything else.”
Hennessy won his latest fight against Gemma Ruegg at the Royal Albert Hall in March, dominating on the way to a victory of 80-72 points on eight laps.
“ She deserved much better than that ” – Hennessy wants to see Marshall -Green revenge
Last weekend, Hennessy was on the other side of the strings of the Madison Square Garden in New York to see Katie Taylor seal a majority victory over Amanda Serrano in their trilogy fight.
“It was incredible from Katie Taylor,” said Hennessy.
“Amanda Serrano and Katie experienced three big fights and a fair game for both, but Katie cemented her heritage the other day and it was simply incredible to see.”
The card included the return of Savannah Marshall, who lost controversial in Split’s decision against Shadasia Green. Marshall challenged the judges’ score – just like Hennessy.
“To be honest, I thought Savannah had won the fight,” she said.
“After two years, to do this, I thought it was brilliant. And the judges, I don’t know how he devil you gave Savannah two laps but I just think it was disgusting and she deserved much better than that. I think they have to revive the revenge match.”
