Annie Murphy was convinced she didn’t get ‘Schitt’s Creek’ role when Dan Levy called

The role of Alexis Rose came at the ideal moment of Annie Murphy’s career, but Dan Levy made her believe that she did not win the role.

In a recent episode of Not thin but not fatty Podcast, Murphy recalled the hearing process for Schitt’s CreekDuring which she tried for Ditzy Alexis’ daughter and the registrar of the reception Grumpy Motel Stevie.

The opportunity to work on Schitt’s Creek came to Murphy at a difficult period of her life when she had doubted her future in Hollywood and struck her loss of house in Toronto.

“I felt like I was getting Stevie because Stevie felt more like me,” said Murphy. “And I’m so happy to have obtained the play I did because he was a character.”

The weeks have passed, however, and Murphy did not hear. Finally, Levy, the co-creator of the show, called him. But instead of immediately sharing the good news, Levy played with her a little before officially offering her the post.

“I received a call from Dan and he said to me:” Hey, I just wanted to thank you very much for all the efforts and all the time you put. Yes, we really enjoyed it “”, remembers Murphy. “And that’s what people say when they are about to say to each other:” F — You, we went with someone else. “And I said to myself:” Okay, thank you very much. “” And then I signed the call and he said to me: “Just one quick thing, uh, do you want to play my sister in the series?” ”

The call has changed his life, she said. But in the middle of the call, before Levy shared the good news, she thought: “Please put me on my misery.”

Murphy said that she had fallen into a dynamic of brothers and sisters with Levy, who immediately plays her brother on the David screen, adding that making the show was so fun, she hopes a possible Schitt’s Creek Film one day.
