Anthony Marde will challenge a world title against another elite opponent when he combat David Benavidez for the WBC lightweight belt.

After losing offers from the previous world title against Sergey Kovalev in Russia, then the unified champion and future Artur Beterbiev, Yardle will face the formidable Benavidez on November 22 in Riyadh.

He insisted that he did not hesitate to take the fight, even if baking his time could have given a more easy world title.

However, a confrontation with the London rival Joshua Buatsi remains elusive. After Callum Smith defeated Buatsi to win the temporary WBO title in February, Warde insists that Buatsi is no longer an opponent in his eyes.

“This is not my business. I fight Benavidez – a world class operator, a world champion, undefeated. A person who is considered to be avoided by many people. It is a different level,” said Warde.

“So I’m not going to talk about anyone is a lower level. I’m still looking for my eyes.”
