Ben Askren’s wife says former fighter may require a lung transplant: ‘I’m still praying for a miracle’

The former UFC Ben Askren is being evaluated for a pulmonary transplant after having taken severe pneumonia, according to his wife, Amy. Askren is currently on a fan while doctors continue to assess his health.

“I always pray for a miracle with its current lungs, but they are currently starting the evaluation process for a pulmonary transplant,” wrote Amy on Facebook. “Please pray for its continuous healing, and if transplantation is the solution, which it can appear on the list quickly and easily.

“I know that the transplants are such a blessing and I am overwhelmed with the idea of ​​receiving a gift like that. No one would take better care of this gift than Ben.”

Amy had first hoped that Askren would provide updates himself. Askren has so far managed to open his eyes and shake hands. The champion of mixed to retirement martial arts and amateur struggle is currently on a fan and an ECMO (oxygenation of the extracorporeal membrane).

Amy expressed her gratitude for the effusion of the support that her family has received. She urged others to kiss them closest to them.
