Bill Cosby pays tribute to TV son Malcolm-Jamal Warner after his death
Bill Cosby spoke on Monday to deplore the loss of Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played his televised son for eight seasons on the Hit television of the 1980s The Cosby Show.
“He has always been a big studio and I really liked working with him,” Cosby said in an interview with ABC News. “He was very professional. He always knew his role … He has always known his lines, and he always knew where to go.”

Warner was a young teenager when he played the role of Theo Huxable for the first time, one of the five children of Dr. Cliff Huxable de Cosby and his clear wife (Phylicia Rashad). Theo was the couple’s only son in a family who also included Singra (Sabrina Le Beauf), Denise (Lisa Bonet), Vanessa (Tempestt Bledsoe) and Rudy (Keshia Knight Pulliam).
Cosby said he and Warner had remained close after the program in 1992, finishing eight award -winning seasons: “Malcolm regularly calls here.”

Cosby encountered legal problems in the decades that followed the show. The actor denied the allegations of sexual misconduct of dozens of women. While he was found guilty of sexual assault in 2018, he was released for technicality in 2021.

Cosby’s lawyer refused to share a statement with EW when he was contacted to comment.
In addition to Cosby, Warner was cried by Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson and Questlove, who remembered Warner as having been “a GPS / headlight of safety in adulthood” on the revolutionary series which depicts a black family of upper class.
