‘Boy Meets World’ star Rider Strong recalls how he ‘lost it’ working on emotional episode
Halfway from season 6 of Boy meets the worldRider Strong remembers feeling tired of acting dramatic scenarios for his character Shawn Hunter.
In the last episode of the Podcast Rewatch Pod meets the world, Hosted by Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle, Strong shared that he “lost” it during rehearsals for the episode “Getting Hitched”.
The episode follows “We will have a good time then”, a particularly heavy where Shawn (fort) and his half-brother Jack (Matthew Lawrence) lose their father Chet (Blake Clark). “Getting Hitched” also explores the consequences of this loss and Strong had to draw from the sorrow of his character.
“I was miserable this week,” he said. “I have a distinct memory of breaking down this week.”
With the repercussions of Shawn’s parental loss, “Getting Hitched” also offers a Plot B Eric offers a little comic relief – including an idiotic piece where he was ill -spelling the word “Penguin”.
“I think that episodes like this one, the thing I remember the most in the funny B or a story, whatever it was, when the other story was really dramatic, generally the casting that was in the funny story became crazy that week, being laughing,” said Friedle.

Strong remembered feeling frustrated because he had the impression that he could not do as many funny scripts as his comrades.
“I said to myself:” Why do they throw me drama? “” Said Strong. “And now watching it is on the heels of an episode where they killed my father and really put a lot of pressure on us as a actor, you know, pressure on Blake and Matt and me. And so I think what I was really reacting was not a problem with the way this scene was written or something else, but I simply feel all of all the drama.”
Friedle said that he felt the opposite of Strong during the shooting, believing that he was always the “goofball” when he thought that strong “was going to leave and win an Emmy”.
With hindsight, the Costares agreed that they had a solid mixture of dramatic and comic stories throughout the show.
