British and Irish Lions: Henry Pollock tipped to fly high on the biggest stage by head coach Andy Farrell | Rugby Union News
Head coach Andy Farrell insists that Henry Pollock has the temperament to prosper on the biggest scene after giving the star of England his first departure for the British and Irish lions.
Pollock made his debut in Lions to replace the 28-24 defeat by Argentina who opened the tower Sky Sports.
At 20, the Ray Swaggerring Northampton is the youngest player in the team and less than six months ago, he played in the U20 Six Nations.
Maro Itoje described his teammate in England as a “devastating” when he was called in the senior camp during the championship and Farrell urged him to remain intrepid.
“Henry was not a pest, certainly not! He was great,” said Farrell, who gave Pollock’s permission to continue doing his famous test celebrations.
“He’s hungry to learn and it’s perfect because you can see that he has a real difference point.
“He sees things quickly and acts on this subject. His line of racing is quite good. His awareness of space, how lively he is in his mind and his sporting capacities are up there with the other guys from the team.
“He’s hungry to make a difference all the time. But he also understands what parts of his game he should improve. He has a great attitude.
“He is certainly not in the process of coming from. I mean, I love it. You want children to be themselves and he is just himself. He does not know different.
“But he is also a humble child. He doesn’t think he has everything, far from it. You want people with confidence and belief because it helps when he takes the ground.
“You don’t want a child to go under the radar and in three weeks, you just sit down. You choose it for a reason.
“He’s a lion like the eldest player. There is no difference. His character is contagious for everyone. He is a big boy.”
