The Arizona Diamondbacks will be without one of their best players in the predictable future. Corbin Carroll Voltger has a fracture of the chip in his left / wrist and will be placed on Tuesday on the injured list, reports the Republic of Arizona. Carroll suffered the injury when hitting land last Wednesday. He hasn’t played since.

“Unfortunately, he does not answer as quickly as I wish,” said Carroll (via Arizona Republic). “Just something that we have to give him time. We were quite aggressive in the last two days in terms of trying to come back there. He did not answer the best. Take him a little more easily today and see what is going on.”

Here is the land that caused Carroll’s injury:

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge underwent a fracture of a wrist chipe when he was struck by land in 2018. He missed about two months with the injury. The D-Backs have not yet provided a calendar for the return of Carroll, although any fracture in the hand / wrist generally requires weeks to recover, and not only one or two.

Carroll, 24, was one of the best baseball players this season, reaching .255 / .341 / .573 with 20 circuits and 10 stolen bases. He also leads baseball with nine triple. Carroll ranks seventh among all position players with 3.5 war, by Fangraphs. It is a dynamic power and a speed threat and close to an irreplaceable player for Arizona.

The D-Backs will remember Jake McCarthy to replace Carroll. McCarthy has experienced superb stretches in recent years, including the reduction of .285 / .349 / .400 with 25 interceptions in 2024, but he fought a lot earlier this year and was demoted to Triple-A. McCarthy will join Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Alek Thomas and Randal Grichuk in the outside mix.

Carroll is the last D-Back player to undergo a major injury. Ace Corbin Burnes was lost against Tommy John Surgery last month, the late Channel Justin Martinez and AJ Puk also need their elbows to rebuild, and the receiver Gabriel Moreno came out with a fractured finger. Carroll will be the tenth D-Back player on the injured list.

Arizona blew the White Sox from Chicago on Monday (ARI 10, CWS 0) and they won nine of their last 13 games. At 40-38, they last 2 ½ games behind Joker’s third point.
