Cory Monteith’s parents die weeks apart, 12 years after ‘Glee’ star’s death


Cory Monteith’s mother died, just a few weeks after the death of the father of the late actor.

THE Joy Star’s mother, Ann Marie McGregor, died “peacefully” on June 18, according to her Blower. She was 74 years old.

McGregor was treated for a hospital illness before his death, according to his Blower, who said: “We would like … thank the doctors, nurses and palliative care staff at St. Paul de Saskatoon for the impeccable care that Ann received during their stay.”

Meanwhile, the father separated from Monteith, Joe Monteith, died on May 12. He was 75 years old.

Joe was also in treatment of a serious illness before his death.

“The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the DECH for their exceptional care and compassion in recent months,” said their NECRology.

Cory died in 2013 of a combination of drug toxicity and alcohol toxicity at 31 years old. Five years after the death of the actor, McGregor revealed how she was still trying to face the loss of her son.

“I still can’t pick up the parts,” McGregor told people at the time. “My world has stopped completely. And I am a person different from the one before.”

Joe had been distant from Cory for a large part of his life and reconnected two years before the death of his son after 11 years. However, he told people in 2013 that he had a broken heart that he had not been able to say goodbye.

“It tears me just inside and tears me away,” said Joe at the time.

Joy, On which Cory played like Finn Hudson, the high school student-quarterback, was between the seasons 4 and 5 at the time of his sudden death. Lea Michele, who went out with Cory on and out of the show, returned to get in season 5 of cinema 5 a month later.

“If we did not show up for work, people would not have a job to go,” Michele recently explained. “And it was a lot of pressure for me, so I had to put my things aside and introduce myself, so that everyone can continue to work.”

The co-creator of the series, Ryan Murphy, revealed regrets of the decision to continue the show after the tragedy. “If I had to start again, we would have stopped for a very long time and probably no return,” he said. “I would be like” it’s the end “… because you can’t really get something like that.”

Joe and McGregor, who divorced in 1989, are both left in mourning by their son Shaun Monteith. McGregor is also survived by his brothers Pat, Mike and Pete, Sister Mary and their families.
