Country singer Pat Green’s brother and his family lost in Texas floods
The singer Country Pat Green was deeply and personally affected by the tragedy in Texas.
Green confirmed that his brother, a sister-in-law and two of their children died in the sudden floods of the center of Texas.
“During the weekend, during the devastating floods that struck the center of Texas, my family – like so many others – suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss. We are in mourning alongside countless Texans of which we have been turned upside down by this treaty. At the moment, we are asking for private life and space while we are giving up, family.”
Green concluded: “Thank you for your love, your prayers and your compassion.”
His wife, Kori Green, also thanked people for their support.
“We are very grateful for the outpouring of love and concern. Pat’s little brother, John, his wife, Julia, and two of their children were swept away in the flood of Kerrville. We have a broken heart and look forward to it to be found. Thank you for your prayers.”
John Burgess, 39, and Julia Anderson Burgess, 38, camped in a motorhome in Kerrville at the time of the flood with their two sons, Jack, 5 years old, and James, 1 L’Express reported, also noting that the couple’s daughter, Jenna, was in a nearby summer camp and is unscathed.
The family member, Michael Schwab, updated social media on Tuesday afternoon, confirming that the body of his cousin, Julia, had been found.
Green, who is often from Texas, postponed a concert on Friday, due to the floods. Tuesday evening, 111 people died and at least 173 people were not recorded, according to the New York Times.
“Our prayers go to all the people affected by the floods of Texas Hill Country”, announced the singer “Wave on Wave” on Facebook at the time.
On Monday, another celebrity born in Texas, Jenna Bush Hager, explained on Today That she also had links with the region, in particular the nearby Mystic camp, where 27 campers and advisers had been lost.
“My mother was an advisor there, but also many of my friends were raised in this camp,” said Hager about the former first lady Laura Bush on Monday. “Texas camps are institutions … where many family members – generations [go]. “”
Hager explained that his own mother had been a dramatic counselor at the camp.
“But many of my friends were there, had their children last week. And the stories I heard in the last two days were beautiful and heartbreaking,” she said.
