Denis Villeneuve goes from Arrakis deserts to the world of Aston Martin DB5 and Martinis – shaken, not stirred.

The Canadian filmmaker nominated at the Oscars was used to make the next James Bond film, which will be the first of Amazon MGM Studios, the company announced on Wednesday. Villeneuve will also be an executive producer, alongside Tanya Lapointe. It was previously revealed that Amy Pascal and David Heyman will also serve as producers.

“Some of my first cinematographic memories were linked to 007,” said Villeneuve in a statement. “I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, since Dr no With Sean Connery. I am an unconditional fan of Bond. For me, it is a sacred territory. I intend to honor tradition and open the way to many new missions to come. It is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David and I are absolutely delighted to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to the Amazon MGM studios for their confidence. “”
