Deontay Wilder: Former heavyweight world champion makes winning return against Tyrrell Herndon – who will he face next? | Boxing News
Deontay Wilder made a winning return to the ring and won his first victory since 2022 after finishing a dominant TKO of seventh round of Tyrrell Herndon in Kansas.
Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KB) had been beaten in four of five previous games, including consecutive defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, although he ended this race at the Charles Koch Arena.
“ The Bronze Bomber ” scored an unconvincing Knockdown in the second when an unbalanced herndon was caught by a left hook, with a wilder one at the top of the first laps despite not hurting his opponent with his gunshots.
Wilder has changed pace in the sixth, with a series of shots against the strings forcing a second Knockdown, although Herndon survived the turn to prolong the competition.
Herndon was finally arrested by the referee in the last minute of the seventh lap, having taken his own right hands in the rapid succession of Wilder and showing little sign to find his way in the competition.
“It was great,” said Wilder after the fight. “I have long been sure to recover together, and it was a long road for me. I’m just happy to be back in the ring, you know. It’s a new start for me.”
