The star of England, Beth Mead, opened how “disappointing” he was to see Mary Earps, Fran Kirby and Millie Bright withdraw from Euro 2025, but insisted that she was excited for a new era of Lioness to start.

Earps and Kirby, two key personalities from the team who won Euro 2022, retired in the preparation of Sarina Wiegman announcing her team of 23 players for the next tournament in Switzerland.

Bright became unavailable for the selection one day after Kirby announced his retirement, saying that she was not “able to give 100% mentally or physically” before Chelsea confirmed that she had undergone a minor surgical intervention in the knee in the days that followed.

England will face Jamaica in their last preparation match before the launch of its tournament against France on July 5.

“Fran and Mary and, hopefully, Millie will be able to recover well, and we can get our backs for us again on England.”

England suffered a 2-1 defeat in his first game after Earps announced his retirement, Kirby being left from the day team for the match before informing her teammates that she retired with an immediate effect after the match.
