England vs India: Tourists win by four wickets to take lead in Women’s ODI series | Cricket News
England was left in unmissable territory to avoid successive defeats of the series after India won a four -gate victory during the first Women’s Odi in Southampton.
By trying to bounce back after a 3-2 defeat in the T20 series, England established India 259 for the victory at the Utilita Bowl, while the birthday girl Sophia Dunkley obtained a better score with 83 balls out of 92 to lead the recovery of the 20-2 and 97-4 hosts when they reached 258-6 after 50 overs.
The fears of England had not had enough points on the table were confirmed because the 14th half-century of Deepti Sharma saw him published 62 undefeated while India continued the total in 48.2 Overs.
The fifth consecutive victory of the ODI in India on English soil sees them taking a 1-0 lead in the three -game series before the second ODI at Lord’s this Saturday – Live Sky Sports.
Indian advantage in the ODI series of women
England was reduced to 20-2 after winning the draw and chose to beat with the openers Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont victims of Kranti Goud in his opening.
The India sailor recovered three large successive in a first erratic by cutting the top of Jones’ stump with a jaffa and followed this by trapping Beaumont LBW in the fifth.
Emma Lamb and Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt led the recovery of England, putting a little of 71 well necessary for the third counter, but just as the two looked on the right track to reach their half-century, India has swung the momentum in their favor.
The Lamb fled to the captain of India Harmanpreet Kaur halfway up off the coast of Bowling off Sneh Rana in the 19th, and the spinner struck again at his next while Sciver-Brunt fell to a good taking of Jemimah Rodrigues at the short duration.
The bursting of two gates left India in the ascendant, but, for the second time, England recovered when Dunkley and Alice Davidson-Richards shared a record partnership of fifth portion of 106 points to obtain the hosts and more than 200.
Dunkley propelled its sixth Odi fifty on 68 bullets and Davidson-Richards claimed its second half Odi in 70 balls before the second lost its window in an awkward manner when it froze in the fold and did not look at the giggal holder Richa Gosh removed the surety.
A 23 balls at hand of Sophie Ecclestone helped England to obtain its total of more than 250 before Dunkley, for its 27th anniversary, fell last ball at Amanjot Kaur.
India was maintained on 259 for the victory in a guarantee, the openers Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana marking at will after having settled in to frustrate the quisors of England.
England finally broke into the eighth, Lauren Bell finding the least of the edges of the Mandhana bat while she was leaving for 28 after sharing a 48 -point stand for the first window.
Rawal was sent in 14 points of his half-century packaging by a beauty of Sophie Ecclestone who turned through the door and on the top of the stump.
India apparently cruising, Davidson-Richards seemed to have decisively swung the game in favor of England with a superb direct strike which claimed the Deol window after it inexcusably failed its bat.
Harmanpreet Kaur, trapped LBW by Charlie Dean, followed him in the pavilion after a superb review canceled the original decision on the ground not to go out.
But with tourists who wade on 124-4 in the 28th, Sharma and Rodrigues ruled the ship, putting 90 points for the fifth window to frustrate England, which missed a golden opportunity from Gilt to remove Sharma when they did not trigger what would have been a successful LBW review.
And it turned out to be expensive, Sharma reaching her fifty bullets on 52 bullets to direct India until victory, while Aanjot Kaur struck the winning races with 10 balls to lose.
Sciver-Brunt concedes England below the battle height
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt told Sky Sports Cricket: “This partnership in the middle was massive, Sophia Dunkley and Alice Davidson-Richards played very well to bring us to this score from 90 to 4.
“But ultimately, we did not have enough races because of the countertop group. It hurt us.
“It was a good surface and the outer field really dried throughout our sleeves and for the second round too. Probably 280 was a just score.”
Kaur highlights the positive points and areas of improvement in India
Captain of India Harmanpreet Kaur told Sky Sports Cricket: “A great feeling. The way we played today and upset was crucial.
“It was a good counter to fight, and we knew that if we stayed there in the middle, we could change the game.
“Fielding is something we are working on, we have missed a few chances, but in the next match, we will put something on the field.
“Credit in Deepti and the way she beat.”
