Liverpool made an offer of 80 million euros (69 million pounds sterling) as well as additional modules for the Francfurt Eintracht Hugo Ekitike striker.

Sky Sports News Understands that the total package of this offer could reach 90 million euros, or around 78 million pounds sterling, but discussions continue on the structure of additional modules.

This occurs after 48 hours of negotiations between the two parties, after Liverpool’s interest was made public earlier this week.

Ekitike is open to a move in the Premier League and Liverpool would be his favorite destination after Newcastle had an offer rejected earlier this week.

Francfurt has not yet responded to this last blow. The talks continue, but so far, the negotiations between the two have been positive and progressive.

The 23-year-old was an unused substitute during the pre-season match of his team against FSV Francfurt on Saturday. After the match, the Boss of Frankfurt, quoted by Sky Germany, said that the potential departure of Ekitike is “a bitter loss”.

Ekitike scored 22 goals in 48 games all competitions last season for Frankfurt when he helped them qualify for the Champions League.

When Hugo Ekitike was still a teenager at Stade Reims, the coaches staff prepared a development plan for him. They analyzed the performance of Kylian Mbappe, then chose two other players that Ekitike could realistically realize to reproduce.

“They were players with similar profiles of teams that were better than our team, but not at the distance that Paris Saint-Germain was from us,” said Oscar Garcia, then Reims head coach, said Sky Sports. “We challenged him to reach the level of the other two attackers.”

At first glance, it was a perfectly reasonable short -term target. Before his last season in Reims, Ekitike had not even scored a goal in the first level of France. He had spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan to the Danish club Vejle Boldklub.
