James Wade wins Players Championship 19 title in Leicester to end near three-year wait for PDC ranking title | Darts News

James Wade produced a series of vintage presentations to win the 19th championship in Leicester on Thursday, ending an expectation of almost three years for a PDC classification title.

Wade has delivered a finishing exhibition to Demolish Scott Williams 8-3 in their decisive confrontation at the Mattioli arena, with an average of 101.52 to return to the winner’s grounds for the first time since November 2022.

The left -hander was at his best merciless against Williams, winning a trio of tons boxes and pinning eight of his nine double attempts – an amazing conversion rate of 88.9%.

“It’s been a long time to come,” woke Wade, who recovers a place in the top eight of the world after pocketing the first prize of £ 15,000.

“I’m really, really happy. It has been difficult for me for a few years.

“I went from number three to the world to the outside of the Top 20, but it was not because my dart capacity disappeared, it was because my health disappeared.

“I am really proud of myself today, because they are not easy to win events. I lost a few and semi-finals recently, so it’s an important step for me.

“I always want to be in the mix. I know that I am always good enough to compete with the best players, so I want to continue knocking on the door and upsetting the pommier’s cart!”

After 6-2 victories on Brett Claydon and Joshua Richardson, Wade went to the last 16 with the victory over Peter Wright, passing the Scottish in a decision-maker for the second consecutive day.

The pillar of Aldershot then had an average of 103.94 during his last success against Kevin Doets, before winning six consecutive legs of 4-0 to stun the world champion of youth Gian Van Veeen.

Wade produced 161 and 124 finishes on the Bullseye during this spell, and he supported this ruthless precision on the outside ring in his 7-3 Beating of Andrew Gilding in the semi-finals.

However, the winner of the television title 10 times saved his best finish for Thursday’s centerpiece, evoking a splint of 110 boxes – including one for the title – as well as a 120 brand combination to end a formidable performance.
