John Goodman hasn’t spoken to Roseanne Barr in ‘7 or 8 years’
John Goodman and Roseanne Barr have not been in exactly in touch since their days playing a married couple Roseanne.
In fact, Goodman said in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he does not think he spoke to Barr “for about seven or eight years”. This deadline downed up with their popular and briefly revived sitcom during cancellation in ABC in 2018, a few hours after Barr published a racist tweet on Valerie Jarrett, the former principal advisor to President Obama. Within three weeks, the Roseanne The restart was revised without a barr – whose holder was killed – and recommended Connecs.
When asked by THR If he had spoken to Barr of the Connecting Final, in which her character will visit the grave of his character, Goodman said: “No. I prefer to doubt whether she wants to talk to me. We haven’t talked about for about seven or eight years.”
That said, he has only good memories of their time playing together Dan and Roseanne Conner, first in nine seasons of RoseanneThe original race from 1988 to 1997, then again in the 10th revival.
“We hit Jump Street. She made me laugh, and I made her laugh, and Wow, it was so fun,” recalls Goodman. “We would have so many viewers for the show at the time – 20, 30 million people. Things are so different now, but it was a special moment.”
Weekly entertainment contacted Barr’s representatives to comment on Goodman’s remarks.
Shortly after Barr’s fateful tweet in 2018, the president of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey, said that it was “heinous, repugnant and incompatible with our values, and we decided to cancel his program”.

Before ABC’s decision, Barr tried to control tweet damage, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and all the Americans. I am really sorry to make a bad joke about his politics and his looks. I should have known better. Forgive me my joke was bad.”
At the time, Goodman defended Barr, saying: “I’m going to say this in this way, I was surprised by the [network’s] answer. And that’s probably all I should say about it. “He added:” I know very well that she is not racist. “”

At the Monte-Carlo television festival in 2023, Goodman addressed his support prior to his former Costar, saying that he had no regrets. “I remember attending a kind of junket where they saw the pilot, then the interviews, and that turned into an attack,” he said Variety. “It made me really uncomfortable to see going after Roseanne.”
He continued: “Yeah, I felt bad for her. And then, yeah … I just feel terrible in all of this. You know, we had a good time. And I love her. She is just her own person.”
Even so, when asked if he would work with her again, he was hesitant. “I don’t know,” he replied. “If she would like … I don’t know. She is missing. I wish her good luck.”
broadcast his last episode in April, after seven seasons on ABC.
