John Textor resigns from Lyon and suggests involvement with ‘new club in England’ | Football News
John Textor resigned from his management positions in Lyon, teasing participation with a new club in England after having sold his participation in Crystal Palace last week.
Textor – Who remains president, CEO and majority owner of Eagle Football Holdings – confirmed that he was coming back from his daily responsibilities at the French club, which was relegated to Ligue 2, with Michael Gerlinger appointed as CEO and Michele Kang as President and President.
In a press release, Textor said that he will now focus on his other clubs, including Botafogo and Daring Brussels, while teasing the involvement with another club in England.
Textor said: “I am extremely proud of the global sporting successes of Eagle Football, with historic championships, cup victories and tournament qualifications in Brazil, France and England, but it is clear that we have to make changes to our management approach, if we expect to be so effective on the field, as we are on the ground.”
Regarding Olympique Lyonnais, he added: “Each of our clubs and communities deserve leadership, with a strong local presence, and the meaning to overcome both the sporting and non -sporting challenges we face. It is obvious to everyone that Michele is a perfect choice to direct OL, and I am delighted for our community.”
He continued: “On a personal level, I am really impatient to reduce my daily management responsibilities in Europe, so that I can focus on the markets where we have all the freedom to manage our football clubs … To invest, innovate, grow and compete. OL in big hands with Michele, and I will focus on Botafogo, Dost Brussels and our next club in England.”
