Jonathan Barnett: Sports agent accused of rape in US lawsuit | Football News
Sports agent Jonathan Barnett was accused of rape in an American trial.
Barnett is accused of a civil complaint which was filed Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Before retiring last year, its high -level customers included players such as Gareth Bale, Jack Grenish and Ashley Cole.
An anonymous woman called “Jane Doe” says that she was treated in the United Kingdom in 2017.
“Jane Doe” also continues the Creative Artists Agency, and CAA Stellar, where Barnett was executive president.
In 2020, Barnett sold a stellar group at the Hollywood Talent ICM Partners agency. ICM later merged with its CAA rival, in an agreement concluded in 2022 which brought together two of the world’s largest agencies.
A declaration by a spokesperson for the CAA, which Barnett left in February 2024, read: “We first learned the allegations of Ms. Doe via a press survey in January 2024 and requests for settlement of his lawyer.
“While the complaint attempts to link these allegations to the activities of the CAA, Ms. Doe has never been used, consultant or entrepreneur of CAA, ICM or Stellar, and she has never had a commercial connection with CAA, ICM or Stellar.
“The CAA takes all the allegations of this nature seriously and, through a lawyer, quickly urged Ms. Doe to contact the police in the United Kingdom. Mr. Barnett came out stellar in February 2024.”
A statement in the name of Barnett of his lawyers said: “We will vigorously defend this trial through the appropriate legal process. I can’t wait to be fully justified and exempt.”
