Mariska Hargitay reveals biological dad apologized on Father’s Day

During her appearance at the Smerdocs series in Hamptonsfilm in East Hampton, NY on Thursday, Hargitay revealed that she had spent Father’s Day with Sardelli this year. “It was so magical,” she said (via people). “He apologized and said,” Thank you for talking to me. “And I said,” Thank you for making the choice you made. “”
She continued: “So, it’s as if everyone was right at the end, but I grew up without knowing it.”
Hargitay knew his real parenting with certainty at the age of 30, but did not publicly discuss the question by Mickey Hargitay, who raised it. She finally decided to share the truth in her documentary, who made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
“It’s about sitting with so long and acquiring a certain wisdom and loosening my grip by thinking that it should be this secret,” said Hargitay Weekly entertainment. “I realized that the truth is finally what releases us, and I kept my goal of being faithful to my father long enough.”

Hargitay said that the production of the documentary offered new perspectives on the shades and complex emotions of its family history. “It has become this living and breathable story, and I wanted to understand each person and the choices they made because I did not have the whole image,” she said. “When I learned the whole story from more than one view of the bird’s eyes, I said:” It’s such a beautiful family story. “”
The actress also told EW that she was “so afraid and so angry” that her father’s true identity would become public more than a decade. “I was so afraid of having to face it before I was ready,” she said. “Thank goodness, it never went anywhere. It was a real gift for me to be able to say it during my time when I was ready.”

In Q&R, Hargitay has also thought about his decision to discuss his true parentage in the doc. “So many people have things they don’t need,” she said. “I think the only way out is over.”
The film’s production process has offered new perspectives to Hargitay on his parents. “Once I understood why there was magic on the other side, and there was love on the other side,” she said. “I spent my life feeling unworthy, not wanted, not claimed, not good enough, abandoned.
