A first half’s first half of the beginner Tommy O’Brien helped Ireland record an impressive 34-5 victory against Georgia in Tbilisi.
Ireland was without head coach Andy Farrell and a plethora of players due to the commitments of the British and Irish lions, but have shown their strength in depth with an exhibition assured on a terrain soaked in rain.
O’Brien ran twice in the opening exchanges before Craig Casey marked his captain’s debut with a good test at the start of the second period.
Nick Timoney finished the scoring late, while Sam Prendergast added 14 points during a flawless kick exhibition under the acting boss Paul O’Connell.
The former captain of Ireland U20 O’Brien only needed two minutes to get off the brand while he was closing to Prendergast kick and he touched next to the messages.
The successful conversion of Prendergast was quickly followed by a second score for Ireland in the eighth minute. It was again the same combination that Prendergast sent the ball over and O’Brien crossed into the right corner.

With the red clock, the hosts continued to probe the Irish defense and pierced thanks to the jalagonia torn in the area. It was a bad end to a professional half, but the interim captain Casey intensified after the break, storming inside 60 seconds after combining with Ryan Baird to mark his first match with the armband with a test.
Another prendergast conversion was followed by two penalties while Ireland has established an advantage of 22 points by the point halfway through the second half.
