Matthew Perry’s doctor to plead guilty to ketamine charges in actor’s death
A doctor responsible for providing ketamine to Matthew Perry in the months preceding the Friends The actor’s deadly overdose agreed to plead guilty, according to federal prosecutors.

In September and October 2023, Plasencia distributed ketamine in Perry and Iwamasa “outside the usual course of professional practice and without a legitimate medical objective at least seven times,” said the indictment. As such, Plasencia is accused of having provided most of the medication given to Perry in the weeks preceding his death; However, he did not provide the fatal dose that killed Perry, according to court documents. Prosecutors allege that the dose came from Sangha, which should be tried in August.
Sangha pleaded not guilty and, if it was found guilty of all accusations, it would result in a compulsory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a maximum statutory sentence of perpetuity.
