Meet the ‘Sakamoto Days’ characters
- Netflix Sakamota Days is based on the Hit manga series of the same name.

While the anime continues to rise in popularity on Netflix, the streamer has put more emphasis on the genre. At the 2025 Anime Expo in Los Angeles, the company shared that around half of its subscribers – more than 150 million households, or around 300 million people – regularly look at the anime.
Open the way Sakamoto DaysWho follows the ex-Hitman Legendary Taro Sakamoto as he leaves retirement to fight the seekers of revenge who want to disturb his quiet family life.
Part 1 of the first season of the anime was created last January and stayed in the world top 10 for 10 consecutive weeks. With the first episode of part 2 of Sakamoto Days Season 1 struck the streamer on Monday July 14, this is the perfect time to learn more about the characters and catch up when the story stopped.

Taro Sakamoto

Taro Sakamoto, the protagonist of Sakamoto Daysis a former hitman who has moved away from a crime life to marry a woman named Aoi and live a normal life.
Now, an owner of a soft manner, Sakamoto has gained weight and has adopted a more relaxed lifestyle. His combat skills and instincts, however, remain raster, and in moments of extreme danger, he can lose his body fat in an instant, triggering a leaner, faster and more powerful version of himself.
The first part of the first season of Sakamoto Days, which consisted of 11 episodes, ended with Sakamoto participating in a battle of Casino with high issues alongside the Allies Shin, Lu and Wutang. Their goal? Discover who placed a bonus on the head of Sakamoto.
In the final scene, the group returned to the store, where Wutang confirms what they suspected – the premium was published by X, better known as Slur. The team is looking for more than a simple name, but unfortunately, it is “wrapped in mystery”.
Wutang warns that Slur has already sent a group of fatal assassins, but Sakamoto sees this as an opportunity. Remove them could help him and his friends to learn more about the identity and the reasons for Slur. When asked if he understood the danger perfectly, Sakamoto says he does it, and that it is “all the more the reason why we cannot let them wander freely”.
Shin Asakura

Shin Asakura is a retired hitman who has already been the protégé of Sakamoto. Although he was trained as an assassin, Shin finally looks for a more peaceful life, just like his mentor.
He enters the world of Sakamoto to try to imer his mentor in the Japanese Assassins Association (JAA). When Sakamoto refuses, Shin is ordered to kill him, but he fails. This failure, however, becomes a turning point, Shin being welcomed in the Sakamoto family and offered a job to the convenience store.
Beyond his skills as a fighter, Shin is also an “esper” or a psychic with the ability to read the spirits.
At the end of part 1, we see Shin alongside Sakamoto, Lu and Wutang at the store, where they learn that Slur sent a group of assassins to remove them.
X (aka slur)

Kei Uzuki, better known as X or Slur, is the main antagonist of Sakamoto Days.
Formerly a promising student at the JAA Training Academy, Slur is fed up with the organization and turned against her. Now, he works to establish a new brutal order by recruiting ferocious killers and wiping those he considers evil, starting with the best assassins like Sakamoto.
Operating from the shadows, Slur puts a bonus on the head of Sakamoto, which defines the events of part 1 in motion. Although we know little about Slur’s reasons beyond his desire to revolt, his link with the JAA and his former classmates suggest that there is more in his history.
At the end of part 1, we learn that Slur sent a team of elite assassins – “disturbed serial killers”, by Wutang – to find and kill Sakamoto.
Aoi Sakamoto

Sakamoto met Aoi for the first time in a convenience store, and it was love at first sight, so much so that he abandoned his life as a murderer almost overnight. The two were married, had a baby and started a quiet life together far from his violent past.
In season 1, Aoi is the heart of the Sakamoto house. She brings love, warmth and normality to the life of Sakamoto – but she does not play either. Aoi threatens the divorce if Sakamoto dates back to his former life as a assassin. He promised him that he would spend his life helping others to atone for his past, and she intends to hold him back.
Lu Shaotang

Lu Shaotang comes from the infamous Lu family, a powerful mafia clan with deep criminal roots. After Sakamoto and Shin intervene to save read thugs from episode 2, she ends up being part of their family found and even started working in the store.
It brings a joyful and relaxed atmosphere to the group, but under this positive energy is a serious bite. Throughout the first part of season 1, Lu and Shin bicker constantly, but when the danger comes to strike, it is ready to fight alongside Shin to protect Sakamoto from the assassins on its tail.
Part 1 ends with Lu aligned with Sakamoto and Shin, discovering that a team of monstrous assassins was sent to kill Sakamoto.
Obiguro

Obiguro is an assassin working for the Dondenkai agency and graduated from Japan Clear Creation (JCC), an elite training institution for assassins. She and her partner, boiled, are after the bonus on the head of Sakamoto.
She clashes against Shin and read in the attraction “Hospital of Terrors” at the amusement park. Although he is on the opposite sides, Ombiguro shows respect for his enemies. After the fight, she compliments to read on her skills and even says that she hopes that they will be able to have a revenge match one day.
Boiled

Like his partner in crime, Obiguro, Boiled is an assassin for Dondenkai and a JCC graduate. While Obiguro fights the allies of Sakamoto, a porridge faces Sakamoto himself in the attraction of the Hospital of terrors.
The two have a story, seen as boiled once admire Sakamoto when they trained together at the JCC. But this pebble admiration when Sakamoto says that he does not remember having boiled, angry with the young killer.
Despite his determination, Boned is finally defeated by the man he once looked at. The two leave the fight with respect for the other.
Heisuke Mashimo

Heisuke made his debut in episode 6 and initially proposes to kill Sakamoto because he is desperate for money.
A low -ranking elite shooter, the lack of versatility of Heisuke made him difficult to find stable work. Consequently, he ended up living in a tent beaten on a roof with his pet bird. Piisuke, and barely scratching.
Often struck down as “dead weight” and said that he did not have what it takes to be a real assassin, Heisuke has trouble being low in terms of self -esteem.
Everything changes during an airsoft tournament, where Sakamoto praises Heisuke’s “remarkable” sniping skills. From that moment, he became an ally faithful to Sakamoto and his family.
Son hee
Netflix
His hee is half of a ruthless twin assassin duo, working alongside his brother Bacho. Known for their effectiveness and lack of remorse, the duo kills anyone as long as the price is right.
They are hired by Wang, president of the organization of Danshokai, to eliminate read, but their mission is interrupted when Sakamoto and Shin intervene. His hee made a last attempt to finish the work, only to be withdrawn by Sakamoto, who assists him with a refrigerator.
The next day, Sakamoto and Shin put the twins to Wang.
Bacho
Netflix
Bacho is part of a team of assassin hired alongside his twin brother, his hee. The two are sent after read, but are arrested when Sakamoto and Shin appear. When Bacho moves to take a step, Sakamoto balances a button jar at the head of Bacho, making him unconscious.
Nagumo
Netflix
A true master of disguise, Nagumo is a highly qualified and unpredictable assassin who slips effortlessly into different identities. He appears for the first time at the Sakamoto store as Sakamoto. His identity theft is so convincing that Lu and Shin are initially duped.
However, Nagumo is not there to cause trouble. Rather, he came to talk to Sakamoto of the premium on his head. Despite his eccentric and theatrical nature, Nagumo turns out to be a precious ally for Sakamoto and his family.
