Milos Kerkez transfer: Liverpool complete £40m deal for Bournemouth left-back with summer spending to pass £200m | Football News

Liverpool finished the signing of the back left of Bournemouth Milos Kerkez in an agreement of 40 million pounds sterling, with the summer expenses of the Premier League champions which could pass the 200 million pounds sterling.

The 21-year-old defender, who would have signed a five-year contract in Anfield, becomes the last signature of head coach Arne Slot de la Venre, Liverpool having already called on Jeremie Frimpong for 29.5 million pounds Sterling by Bayer Leverkusen and his club-mate Florian Wirtz for what could become a move of 116 million British Sterling.

Liverpool also concluded a contract of 29 million pounds Sterling last August for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will officially join the Valencia club on July 1, taking the expenses of the Reds in the summer transfer window to more than 200 million pounds Sterling.

“I’m really happy,” he told Liverpool website. “It is a real honor for me, a privilege to come and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] largest club in England. I am really, really happy and excited.

“After that, I’m going to go home and my hometown, enjoy a few days, then I can’t really wait to come back and put the training kit and start training and prepare for the season.

“I’m going to give everything – absolutely everything – to win trophies with the club and hope to score goals in Anfield. I can’t wait to hear the roar. And see you soon.”

Kerkez was one of Bournemouth’s most remarkable players last season, scoring two goals and adding six assists in 38 Premier League appearances, Liverpool having played him for some time.

Liverpool sports director Richard Hughes, who joined Bournemouth last summer, initially signed Kerkez for the Az Alkmaar cherries in 2023.

Earlier in June, Bournemouth signed the rear left Adrien Truffert in Rennes in a first agreement of 10.1 million pounds sterling which could reach 14.3 million pounds sterling, to replace the Kerkez that comes out.

Analysis: Kerkez can be the new Liverpool Robertson

Sky Sports Football presents the writer Nick Wright:

“Liverpool moved quickly to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, announcing the signature of Jeremie Frimpong the same day that his release at Real Madrid was confirmed. They seem to adopt their succession plan on the left with the same efficiency.

“There is of course a big difference in that, as things arise, Milos Kerkeez will arrive from Bournemouth to compete with Andy Robertson rather than replacing him. But the need for fresh energy on the back left is clear when he enters the last year of his contract.”
