Oisin Murphy required to meet ‘incredibly strict conditions’ after drink-driving conviction | Racing News
The British Horseracing Authority says that it strives to produce a set of “incredibly strict conditions” with Oisin Murphy following her conviction for driving drinks.
Murphy, 29, was sentenced to a fine of £ 70,000 and prohibited from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to a conduct of driving of a motor vehicle when he was beyond the prescribed alcohol limit.
Murphy was able to roll while waiting for his hearing, then, and Brant Dunshea, acting director of the BHA, approached the question of the ITV race.
He said: “The questions concerning the licenses are of a personal nature and each individual has different challenges. With regard to licenses, we maintain a private relationship with individuals.
“There will be times when we will have to face certain questions in a different way and not only to solve the problems that have emerged as in the situation of Oisin, but also to support people who could face a whole range of challenges.
“What happened, which was reported and Oisin has spoken of it, is lower than the standard to which we expect in terms of British race.
“But, above all, we make every effort to protect and improve the safety of our jockeys and our horses. Consequently between the heavy commitment between Oisin and our team, we cross a process when agreeing with a set of incredibly strict conditions and this will include improved tests both on the racetrack and sheltered from the racetrack.
“To be very clear, the BHA did not have access to information concerning the criminal procedure until the complete details are given by the court.
“We have had face -to -face sessions with Oisin and we work to find a set of conditions that guarantee that we protect the integrity of British races and the security of our people, but also in a way that guarantees that Oisin obtains the support and help that he might need to deal with his problems.”
