Oleksandr Usyk not fighting Joseph Parker next would be an outrage, says promoter David Higgins | Boxing News
Oleksandr Usyk cannot be called the biggest heavyweight boxer from his time until he fights and beats Joseph Parker, insists the promoter of Kiwi, David Higgins.
Usyk became a triple undisputed world champion and twice undeniable heavyweight champion on Saturday when he had knocked out Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to reign in Master in Wembley.
During the preparation of the event, Usyk had suggested that he probably had two additional fights in his career. If the first was Dubois, who will be the second?
Speaking in the ring thereafter, the Ukrainian launched Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, who both beaten twice, as well as Derek Chisora and Parker as potential adversaries.
“The whole world wants to see Parker fight for a world title,” said Parker promoter Higgins Sky Sports.
“”It has been in the queue for a long time. He is a favorite. It is compulsory with WBO. It’s great to hear Frank Warren say Parker then. It’s great to hear experts like Lennox Lewis saying Parker then.
“I think it would be an outrage if he hadn’t got it. It’s not really fair.”
The 38 -year -old Usyk delivered another masterclass on British soil to cancel the dreams of her young rival, who sought to take revenge on his first defeat with direct elimination against the former Olympic champion in August 2023.
Dubois had been due to defending his IFB belt against Parker earlier this year before retiring during combat week due to a disease.
Parker then eliminated the late replacement Martin Bakole to follow the victories against Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang to keep him on course for another shot from the world title.
“He is candidate No. 1, the compulsory for WBO and WBO ordered the winner to fight Joseph, this is my understanding,” continued Higgins.
“In Joseph Parker, you now have a veteran who fought names like Joshua, he beat guys like Andy Ruiz, Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang, Bakole recently. He beat them all.
“And so, if Oleksandr Ushyk will really claim to be the greatest heavyweight of that time, he must also beat Joseph Parker. And he has not yet fought him.
“I think it would be silly to go fight the guys, he already beaten. When Parker seated the first candidate there.”
Fury recently expressed his intention to face Usyk in a trilogy fight in 2026 after suffering consecutive defeats against the unbeaten champion in 2024.
But a long queue to challenge Usyk has formed, at the front which apparently appears the Parker in shape.
“Joseph is ready,” said Higgins. “He boxes to win the world title, the unified world title is his goals.
“He has already beaten a lot of best guys, but he would savor and jump on the opportunity to fight for this title. So, if he was offered at the end of the year, great. If it was next year, I am sure he would look at him, he would know on it.
“He left in the ring with great adversaries and features as an oppressed, the guys that others are afraid of fighting. Joseph improves better and better.
“He is not at all exaggerated. He warned to beat Oleksandr.”
