Oleksandr Usyk’s undisputed championship reign – who can actually defeat the brilliant Ukrainian master? | Boxing News

Oleksandr Usyk is the best heavyweight of that time. He is not only an undeniable double world champion in the division, he is undefeated and he beat his main rivals, twice.

He holds two victories on Tyson Fury, two victories over Anthony Joshua and now two victories against Daniel Dubois, as well as the holding of titles of the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweights.

Fury, however, clearly said he wanted to end his retirement and is in the running to meet Usyk for the third time.

The former champion is no stranger to the trilogies, he fought Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora three times for example.

Fury is also categorical that he is the only man capable of beating usyk. Is he right?

Could Fury be the next one?

The two Fury fights with Usyk were points decisions. Despite the British protests, the first was in fact tighter than the second, Fury initially boxed well before being shaken and then preceded a shared decision.

USYK won the second fight more clearly on the 116-112 cards for the three judges. Few neutral observers have challenged this result, but Fury can always argue that it has the tools to defeat Uysk.

Where USYK is a small heavyweight, the fury is a huge nine inches. The brute force, as we have seen, is not enough to beat the Ukrian, but Fury can box intelligently, move well and use its great scope.

Usyk came out on the occasion of the victories, but the 24 rounds they shared were still punished for him.

When it comes to getting the fight then, Fury could also have a case. It could be the most lucrative option for the Ukrainian. No one in boxing can sell a fight as well as Fury in full flow.

Does Parker deserve a Ushk fight now?

Parker was forced to be patient. It is the compulsory challenger of the WBO title and this defense of the compulsory title is then due. If Usyk wants to remain undisputed, he will then have to box the New Zealander. If he doesn’t, he should leave the WBO belt.

Parker is also in good shape, accumulating victories on Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang and Martin Bakole.

He put his defeat to Joe Joyce behind him and never boxed Usyk before. It is a fight that would have the plot and the one that Parker and his team put pressure.

“The WBO in fact said that the fight winner on Saturday, who is USYK is his compulsory, is the next compulsory due to the four belts and he must take place by the end of the year,” said promoter Frank Warren. “Unless he leaves the belt. If he decides to leave him then [Parker] will have to fight n ° 1.

“The n ° 1 is Moses Itauma,” added Warren. “The heavyweight division is on fire right now.”

Joshua in the mixture?

Joshua was one of the USYK names himself suggested for a next fight. This is a surprise since Joshua was exploded by Daniel Dubois the last time he has boxed. But Joshua’s second fight with Usyk was a better performance than many gave him credit at the time. He managed to put pressure on the Usyk until the Ukrainian increased his level with an amazing style during the last laps.

Joshua has no claims for a compulsory title shot, but he would appreciate the chance to try to become a triple world heavyweight champion and, like Fury, is always one of the biggest names in sport. Any fight with AJ is a big event.

Speaking on Toe2Toe, Barry Jones discusses the potential fight of Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua who, according to him

Is it ready?

The young heavyweight is more than a perspective now. His recent electrical performances have confirmed it as a competitor who is closer to a world title fight that you think for a 20 -year -old child.

His next opponent will be Dillian Whyte, they fight in Riyadh on August 16. If Itama serves another big victory, the clamor to move it to a higher level will become even stronger.

As brilliant as it was potentially, and despite the interest that a fight with Usyk would surely generate, it is too early to rush it in a 12 -lap fight with one of the best ever doing it.

A rising cruiser?

None of the big heavyweights have managed to beat the usyk, so maybe it’s time to look elsewhere. USYK won the heavyweight division with the speed of the hand, the foot and the mind. Emulation of the USYK of Cruiser’s Usyk route, perhaps the best fighter in the 200 LB weight category would be the best opponent for Ushk.

Jai Opetaia, the champion of IBF Cruiserweight, is a fast, strong and capable fighter, who has not hidden his possible desire to face USYK.

But this fight would be the most marketable if it was the undisputed cruiserweight compared to the undisputed heavy king. It is unlikely that Opetaia has enough time to recover the other belts of its division before Usyk retires, in particular as a Titlist WBA and WBO Gilberto Ramirez, that Optaia is in no way guaranteed to beat, is recovering from shoulder surgery.

So how does he lose?

USYK has experience, state of mind, skills and shine x factor to dominate sport. He has not yet shown any signs of slipping. But he is 38 years old. He can’t fight forever.

The best coach David Coldwell, who faced Uy Bellew’s corner, has a simple response when it comes to USYK. “Father’s time,” he said. “That’s it.”
