Online Hate: As Katie Boulter and Alessia Russo speak out, Sky Sports re-iterates commitment | Tennis News
At Sky Sports, we are clear that we do not tolerate hatred online. Hatred will not win.
As we said for several times, at Sky Sports, everyone is welcome – this is a message that we are proud to share.
We noted, as we reported earlier this week, the British tennis star Katie Boulter spoke to the BBC of the horrible abuse she receives. We hold on with Katie, his colleagues who spoke out against abuse and supported the demand for platforms and the government which should be made to protect everything on social networks.
We have also seen and reported Alessia Russo, while she is preparing to represent England at the European Championships in Switzerland, to speak of how social media reading publications can be damaging.
She will deactivate her attention to social media during the competition, but should she really do it?
Sky Sports supports Russo and the lionesses in that they should be able to participate in elite tournaments without being the subject of online abuse.
So again, we indicate our position on online hatred:
- Sky Sports will use the power of his voice to highlight the extent of hatred and online abuses and the damage he can inflict on people
- We will seek to delete so many abusive and hateful comments published on Skysports.com and our channels on social media platforms that we can
- We will block users bring hatred to our comments sections on our website and channels on social media platforms
- We will point out hatred and mistreatment to social media platforms
- We will report the most serious cases to the competent authorities
- We strive to make our channels respectful places where sports conversations thrive
- We will continue to order a journalism that highlights social injustices and inequalities in sport
- We will work with platforms and social media decision -makers to make their platforms safer and more respectful
