Owen Farrell returns to Saracens: England fly-half departs Racing 92 and comes back to former club on two-year deal | Rugby Union News
Owen Farrell will go to race 92 a year before the end of his contract to immediately return to the Saracens.
The 33 -year -old man left the Saracens last summer to join the Paris team, but returns to Sarries for a two -year contract.
Farrell will now become immediately eligible to play again for England by Steve Barthwick because of his return to the Premiership, although he retired from international rugby after the Rugby World Cup in 2023 quoting the need to focus on his mental well-being and family, he remains to be seen if he will return to test rugby.
Unlike some reports, Farrell signed as a player rather than a player.
Farrell, who will be part of Sky Sports“The coverage of the British and Irish lions for its opening match against Argentina on Friday, said:” The Saracens are my house and the opportunity to come back is the one that excites me enormously. Having looked at this season from afar, it is clear to see that the club has incredible potential, and I can’t wait to put the mixture for the 25/26 season. “”
The Director of Saracens of Rugby Mark McCall welcomed Farrell again: “Owen has saracens in his DNA; his competitive spirit is woven in the fabric of this club, and we are delighted that he has chosen to go home.
“He returns to a young group full of potentials, players wishing to learn, play and put pressure to succeed. We know that he will love to be part of the place where this group, and this club, go.”
Farrell endured a difficult campaign for the race, suffering from a groin injury and a concussion while the club finished a 10th disappointing in the Top 14, missing the playoffs and the qualification of the Champions Cup.
The owner of the race, Jacky Lorenzetti, was cited in February as indicating that Farrell had “played at the speed of a snail that is back” and that “on the ground, we [Racing] I haven’t seen the real farrell. “”
Farrell will now return to the Saracens, with whom he won six first track titles and three champions Cup crowns in 16 previous seasons between 2008 and 2024.
Farrell has played 112 appearances for England and win six test terminals for the British and Irish lions.
