Poland Darts Masters: Gerwyn Price beats Stephen Bunting in dramatic final-leg decider to clinch title | Darts News
Gerwyn Price came back to the edge of the defeat to tear off the title of Masters Polar Darts by Stephen Bunting in a dramatic final.
The Welshman, who had checked 137 at the level of 2-2, dragged 4-2 at the interval of Prezero Arena in Gliwice but retaliated to lead 7-5.
Bunting reduced the deficit, then saw his opponent miss three double top match darts when he brought it to a last step, which has on average more than 103 – won with only one 17, two doubles with two tops to prevail 8-7.
Speaking on stage thereafter, he said: “I missed lots of doubles in this game – I missed three darts with a double top, my favorite double – then obviously a few legs where I missed a lot of doubles.
“But to go to the last step when Stephen sits on a double and go double, double when I could not hit one all night – fantastic. I’m on the moon.”
Bunting won his place in the final with an overwhelming 7-3 victory against the world champion Luke Littler in the last four.
Littleler survived five match darts and struck a finish from 170 to 6-2 to extend his evening – but only briefly because his opponent produced a triple 18, double of 16 to progress.
Rob cross overpowered price with a superb finish display, recovering from a 2-0 deficit to win seven of the following eight and also go by 7-3.
Littleler had previously withdrawn another “ Big Fish ” on his way to a victory of 6-3 quarter-final against Nathan Aspinall, revenge for consecutive defeats of the World Series by his compatriot in Copenhagen and New York.
Price won a 6-2 victory against Chris Dobey, but Cross was not at his best when he went beyond Michael Van Gerwen 6-4, while Bunting needed a decisive leg to see the Polish n ° 1 Krzysztof Ratajski 6-5.
