“A good measure of the pleasure of the film of the film comes from the familiarity of Craven with the way in which the thrillers tenure, based on the smallest and most commonplace of missed connections, the genre that makes an audience to go crazy,” Weekly entertainmentThe critic wrote in their criticism, calling Red eye A “fast and dark suspense bite”.
Murphy, however, can be disagreed. “I don’t think it’s a good film,” said the Oscar -winning actor Gq Last year. “It’s a good B movie. “Come on, Murph, they can’t all be Oppenheimer.
Before the 20th anniversary of the film next month – and with the streaming generation discovering it for the first time – let’s get rid of Red eyeThe end, from the identity of Murphy’s particular Jackson to this attempt at explosive assassination.
What is Red eye about?
Gemma La Mana / DreamWorks
Lisa is a self-written “pleasure of people”, the director of a luxury hotel in Miami where she is regularly bulldozer by high-end customers. Jackson is a beautiful stranger whom she meets at the airport when he returned home from Dallas after the funeral of her grandmother.
At first, it seems that Fate gathered both, the pair sharing a drink after meeting online, then ending by chance sitting side by side. But his charm feasts once he reveals an in -depth knowledge of his life. He needs his help, and if she does not give him, his unconscious father, Joe (Brian Cox), will be killed by a hitman waiting in front of his house.
Jackson’s plan involves Charles Keefe (Jack Scalia), the assistant internal security secretary, who recently made waves with aggressive rhetoric concerning the United States war against terrorism. (Remember, Red eye was filmed following September 11 and in the midst of the war in Iraq.)
Keefe has reserved a stay at the Lisa hotel, and Jackson wants her to move him (and his family) to another room so that his employers can murder him more easily.
During the night flight, Lisa makes several efforts to alert the agents of the on -board and other passengers that it is in danger – including the writing in soap on the bathroom mirror that Jackson has a bomb – but it remains one step ahead of it every turn.
Finally, Lisa gives up and makes the call, ordering her employee, Cynthia (Jayma Mays), to change the mission of the Keefe room, as mandated by Jackson.
Who is Jackson Rippner?
Gemma La Mana / DreamWorks
Jackson Rippner – Never “Jack”, for fear that his name will echo the XIXth century serial killer “Jack the Ripper” – denies being a spy, a hitman, a CIA agent or a mafia member.
Although his occupation is never explicitly stated, he qualifies as “manager” and says that he specializes in “government reversals [and] Flashy and high level assassinations. “”
If it is caught in the word, Jackson is a pistol hired to help facilitate acts of terrorism. After all, he does not seem personally invested in the murder of Keefe. “Someone wants to send a great impetuous message, it’s their business,” he said to Lisa.
Is Keefe murdered?
Gemma La Mana / DreamWorks
No, Keefe and his family survive the assassination attempt – a missile from a nearby fishing boat. Fortunately for him, Lisa manages to flee Jackson, call Cynthia and alert Keefe’s security details (which is directed, strangely, by Survivor Alum Colby Donaldson in one of its rare cinematographic performances).
The missile, however, responds to its target, triggering the upper floors of the hotel and throwing debris.
How did Lisa escape Jackson?
Gemma La Mana / DreamWorks
As the plane touches Miami, Lisa tells Jackon a scar that he noticed on his chest. She obtained it, she explains, of a sexual assault which occurred two years ago.
“Since then, I have been trying to convince myself of something again and again,” she said.
“It was out of your control,” replied Jackson.
“No, that it would never happen again.”
With that, she swings a pen stolen from another passenger and blocks it in her trachea. In the chaos that followed, she pauses for the outing and sprinte in the airport. She was first chased by security and then by Jackson, who wraps a scarf around her injury and hissing.
Lisa then manages to escape her pursuers by jumping on a shuttle and stealing a car.
Does Lisa save her father?
Gemma La Mana / DreamWorks
She immediately goes to her father’s. There, she spots the hitman outside Joe’s apartment and slams him with the car, sending him to fly by the front of the building and killing him.
Although still alive, Joe is soon knocked up unconscious by a blood strap, which is determined to kill Lisa. The pair fights in the apartment, and Jackson is finally beaten by two shots of the silent killer’s silent pistol – one pulled by Lisa and one by Joe, who wakes up to find her daughter in danger.
How Red eye END?
Gemma La Mana / DreamWorks
Red eye Ends with Lisa who goes to her hotel, where Keefe thanks her for saving the life of her family.
She is then approached by a pair of coarse guests from the hotel that we first saw in the film’s opening scene. After complaining about the explosion, they demand that Lisa draw Cynthia.
Lisa, who has previously been quick to acquiesce to customers like these, tells the couple to fill in a commentary card and push it into the ass, a sign that she is no longer a push.
