‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10’ winner Ginger Minj talks ‘witch hunt’ season

Entertainment Weekly: Veriter here has not been easy. Before winning, you have overcome a lot. You said in an anterior interview with me that before making the call to come back, you were in the hospital, getting you that you were going to die. What does this victory mean for you, given what you have overcome?

Ginger Minj: If I hadn’t experienced what I did, I don’t think I would have had fire to win this. It kicked me in my ass every day. Whenever I felt depressed, especially on the set, it was like no, if you give up now, you abandon everything. It is not only the crown and the title, it is your life and everything for what you worked. You have to keep fighting.

You alluded to Wicked Savil your life in the hospital, is it also applicable to competition?

I felt like Elphaba throughout the competition because I felt like I had all these powers on which I did not have the reach at the start of the season. In particular, by many fans, it was a bit like a witch hunt. People did not want to root for me, and I felt like I had to be my biggest critic and my biggest cheerleader.

What is it to win now after being so close to three times?

I feel like I can breathe for the first time in 10 years. There is always this unfinished affair and you feel proud of what you have done, and you immediately start to turn it back in your head, there are so many options that you have not taken, and you do not know which one would have been the only one to win or make you move forward. I trusted myself for the first time in my life. He played, he paid, and if it feels like a much more well maintained and well -deserved victory than in the past.

There were chatter among the fans and the roars that the competition seemed to promote you. How did you feel you about it and how did it affect you, looking at this going on?

I would like to be able to say that I do not let it bother me, but I do it. Of course, I care what people think, especially when it is a project in which I have all started. What made me laugh a little and gave me a little comfort was the fact that I did this contest three times previous, and Rupaul had no problem putting me down, making me synchronize the lips for my life and not give me a crown. There has never been an example where I was favored in the past. Once I was announced for [All Stars 10]Before the first scene of me rolls, the chatter started. They built the story for themselves. It gave me a little peace. All I can do is my best and live in the success of the moment.

The drama started again on the final, with Rate-A-Queen Returning, I loved it.

Do you want real tea? I did not know what was the F — Rate-A-Queen! When I look at the seasons, I generally paint in a locker room, prepare for a show, and it’s around. I heard about it, but what is it? Lydia tries to break it down for me in the corridor. I was going to walk there and look silly!

It is interesting to note that some of your sisters had things to say, and yet you ranked n ° 1 in the vote compared to the Queen. Were you strategic with your vote or your fair?

It’s interesting for me too, because I didn’t expect it. We did not have time to talk to us before, apart from Lydia who gave me an intensive course. But, I played everything fairly. I was not going to start playing games at the end, especially if I did not understand the game that was played.

Since there were so many queens this season which pointed out that you had a style of lip synchronization. By entering the last episode, has this season changed your approach to drag or play?

It changed my approach, simply because I made this journey of weight loss and massive health. I feel sexier and more confident. I think my aesthetics change, but I don’t have the impression that my performance will never do it, because it is who I am, even before I stumble in the drag to do theater. My style is distinct and it worked for me all my life, and it comes from my heart and my soul. I don’t want to change this for anyone.

The season is a mixture of people who have long perfected their style and the young queens of the new sector. Is there this family dynamic? What does the group cat look like?

I think we are close, I do not know that it is necessarily the nearest cast of which I have a part because it is so large. The girls of the first supports that did not go to the merger, I never had the opportunity to work with it. I do not know that we are all necessarily super tight, but certainly those of us of my support which made the fusion, yes, it is a link of trauma.

Jorgeous has also succeeded so well this season. What would you like to say about her this trip?

I have the privilege of seeing Jorgeous before his trip Dragsters race. To see how much it is perfected on which it is and what it does, and has it shamelessly, that is why it is back three times so quickly, and why it is encountered for me right now, and could easily come back and win everything.

If it had taken me 10 years, I would have returned. I would never refuse the opportunity because I want to win. It is such a gift. In particular in the political climate in which we are currently, people hold it for granted. You don’t have to love me or root me, but if we do not start to support what this platform is, it can be removed from us.

Are you going to come back for All winners If you are asked?

Absolutely. I will present myself for everything. I want to come back as Snatch game mentor. Some of the girls in our vegas show were like, if I ever get the All stars Call, will you help me to Snatch game?

Did the others contacted you to get help?

Many people have done so. I always tell them that you take a sewing lesson before leaving and take an improvisation class. Just one.

What do you want to do with the title, the career and with the $ 200,000?

Broadway is of course my ultimate goal. I cannot make details, but as soon as the talent show was broadcast, a few hours later, a Broadway producer contacted me and we try to get upset in my own Broadway show. It will probably be the start of next year. The $ 200,000 that I plan to take care of some of my family debt. I will use a game to get a place in Los Angeles so that I can be more present here. Symbolically, for the crown, I want to be one of the queens that unites people, I want to show you the work I put in myself is possible for you to do too. I want to hope people. That’s all I always wanted.
